Wakizashi - for quick unsheathing, nearly single, fluid motion, rapid strikes. Used for close quarters attacks within corridors or on street with element of surprise. An assassin’s weapon in an era before there were guns. Brutally effective in the hands of the well-trained.
Length typically 30-60 cm, shorter, more cheaply made than a ceremonial Katana.

For a Kunoichi-no-jutsu (female) - her best weapons were physical attractiveness and verbal ability to gain trust. As in Renaissance Italy, they were employed as courtesan spies and took down kingdoms sometimes with information, other times with daggers and poisons.
