That’s around how many years I came up with. Man, it is getting uncomfortable that so many things were not just a single decade ago but two or three. Old Woot wouldn’t have caused me to have these sentiments, but thinking of Old Woot is dealing with decades, too. Gaah!

I had to quit going over 10 years ago. I always came home with something stupid and pricey.

I drove to a suburb of St. Louis to spend the night with my girlfriend at her parents house. We walked to a nearby county fair. We stopped at the top of the ferris wheel, but she looked distractedly out practically ignoring me. When we got to the bottom, she walked away while I wasn’t paying attention. I couldn’t find her anywhere. She had walked home, leaving me at the fair. She never told me why. Several months later she called to break up with me saying we could still be friends. I asked what was going to change between us. We’d never even kissed! I just paid for her meals when I took her out on “dates.” Haven’t been to a fair since.

If that county fair behavior is indicative of her ability to articulate her feelings, you may have been spared of more pain and confusion by having her do this to you so soon. Hope she matured or figured out whatever her inner turmoil that was underlying her treatment of others so coldly and strangely.

The fairs here go by Grange, not county and we don’t have a State Fair. There is the Eastern States Explosion. I haven’t been to that in years.

Thanks, that was many years ago. She was cool, funny, and fun to hang out with, but yeah there were awkward moments despite the fact that we never argued. When things ended I really didn’t mind. One day I will go to a fair again, but probably not with her.
