I would like to be able to see if there are any dog toys available for sale.
What can’t I search “dog toys” and see all the bargains/crap?

“It’s not a bug, it’s a feature”. You can use the forum to search; you can sort there too (eg. By latest). Another option is Woot+.

There is no Search Function because Woot is too busy messing around with cosmetic things like changing the logo.
