So, if I get this… I have a question. I might need “installing a thermostat for dummies”, but maybe it’s a simple question. 12-15 years ago I installed a programmable thermostat and there are 4 wires. RGWY (well, it’s marked Y but is actually blue). This one seems to indicate I must have a 5th (C) wire also.
Honeywell has something called a C-Wire Power Adapter. Would that be all I need in order to take care of my 5th wire, and I could install this wifi thermostat? Thanks!
You can use a plug-in adapter as a replacement for the common wire.
I see a bunch of videos on Youtube that might help.
WARNING: Only works on 2.4GHz Wi-Fi.
I programmed my router to only use 5Ghz so I can get faster speeds, so I can’t use this, nor can anyone else who uses non-2.4GHz frequency Wi-Fi.
