Seems like a decent deal, they have this model on the Winix website currently for $90. Reddit thread from last year had this new at $60 at Costco, but definitely seems like a good price refurbished as well. Reddit - The heart of the internet

Bought two of these from Woot about a year ago (for $4 more each) and haven’t had a moment’s trouble – just less sneezing and pleasant white noise.

I’ve had two of these develop annoying fan noise after about a year or so. They work well enough, but I worry about it happening yet again.

I had a couple that were broken on arrival, and I had to fix them. the developing fan noise is the lug nut holding the fan blade in place, it needs to be retighten and maybe add some loctite to the threads.

I’ve bought a couple of these here and both have developed the annoying fan noise. I’ll try tightening that nut on the fan… thanks for the tip!

Me too!

I have two. One sounds like a jet engine (just not as loud). Wife asked about it, told her it was the “turbo” in that unit. I moved it to the utility room where the cat box is. It does a great job and you don’t hear it as much. But it is noticeable and started about a year or so after I bought it. I tried some silicon spray and WD40 (hey, worth a chance) but didn’t help. Could take it appart but another day. ..

I have owned it for the past four years, and it works great. The replacement filters are easy to find and relatively inexpensive to purchase.

I have one from woot that has very loud noise after 8 months. Tear apart and tightened up all screws and add noise absorbing tape around some plastic contact points but it’s still really loud. Ended up moving it out of the bedroom and get a levoit, much quieter.

For what it’s worth, we have two of these. We bought one reconditioned from Woot! and one new from Costco. I am a critic’s critic and typically focus on the negative, but I only have good things to say about this Winix model. Both have worked flawlessly in our home. They easily connected to our Wi-Fi and have not disconnected since we bought the first one four years ago. We replace the carbon filters quarterly and get 12-16 months out of each Hepa filter. Our Winix C545s have been quiet, efficient, and kept a reliable connection.

Approximately how much are filter? I have four cats how often am I going to have to replace them?

I’ve got to admit, this is a pretty inexpensive filter unit.

That said, if you need several air “purifiers,” you could buy these (or just 1 or 2 of them locally, since the 6 pack below is probably way more than you need)

Buy a standard box fan. Tape the edges of the filter to the intake side of the box fan. I use white gaffer’s tape. Minimal initial investment, filters are cheap. It just doesn’t look as nice as the Winix.

Tutorials are all over YouTube. People near wildfires have made larger versions with a “cube” of filters.

We had a Winix years ago. It was okay and worked reasonably well.

Are we going to regret buying refurbished as Prime Days approaches?
