Woot! customer service has been responsive but inconsistent so I was hoping to get some clarification regarding whether coupons get refunded.
I purchased an item that unfortunately did not live up to expectation (cookware set that says it worked with induction ovens but did not). I used two $10 off Happy Hour coupons to reduce the cost. When I returned the item I received what I had charged back to my credit card. I then reached out to customer service regarding the used coupons who efficiently issued two $10 replacement coupons. This has been my experience in the past. Unfortunately even though two unique coupon codes were supposed to be generated only one of these was loaded with $10, the other coupon code was invalid.
Over the weekend I reached out to customer service regarding this issue. The response I received was that Woot! does not refund coupons.
So my question is what is Woot!'s policy? And if you do issue replacement coupons, how do I go about getting the second coupon (or a re-replacement coupon) activated as I have already reached out to customer service unsuccessfully?
Hello. It’s correct that we don’t reissue coupons on returned/refunded orders. Same as with just about any retailer. Target & Walmart aren’t going to give you back your coupons. Nor your grocery store.
I appreciate your taking the time to weigh in on this and ask me a question so I will be happy to respond to give insight into my beliefs.
My inquiry was looking for clarification on the policy as I could not find it in the FAQs for both future coupon use given my inconsistent experiences between customer service reps. If you inquired with a customer service agent and they specifically issued 2 replacements coupons but one of them did not properly work (the other does) wouldnt you be led to believe the policy would be to re-issue?
And yes, I absolutely believe that coupons should be refunded. This is a personal opinion and I do understand retailers do not refund manufacturer coupons. First off retailers get paid for manufacturer coupons that are used to make purchases by the manufacturer (plus some some “handling fee” which I am sure doesnt cover those costs). And yes I dont get the coupon back as a policy but in the school of logic why shouldnt I? I am not asking for cash back, just the specific coupon. And yes I understand that getting that particular coupon (or replica) back would be impossible and a waste of time.
I have issues with re-stocking fees even if clearly disclosed by the retailer and dont shop at stores that charge them. The retailer is telling me we will only give you 80-85% of your purchase price back.. I just dont shop at those stores because there are other options, maybe someday that wont be the case but there are options today.
You may agree or disagree with what I believe, but I do operate within the retailer’s rules when I understand them. I appreciate TT clarifying the Woot! policy above and will operate accordingly.
