1). How is an item sold out before I even refresh and get the item up?
It seems that some items already have items sold before I even refresh. Do some get priority?
2). On bag of crap, I was right in there and bought one but then I get the waiting wheels and never get one. How are the buyers chosen?
It’s all based on First Come First Serve but also how quickly the server responds. Also the quantity available. Some sales only have a few items, some have lots.
With the BOC, it’s a crap shoot. Keep trying.

Products are updated at slightly different times across the Woot platforms. Generally speaking, the fastest way to see a new product is by watching the forums. Each item in the Woot off will get its own forum topic so you can watch for when a new one pops up to be the fastest to the draw. The main website page and the Woot-off twitter pages are by far the slowest to be updated and is why many people see an item after it’s already sold out.

Same rule applies from above but also it’s largely luck based since there are soooo many people trying for this one item. It may seem like you’re the fastest but really we’re talking about milliseconds difference in whether you’re unlucky enough to actually get one or you’re among those fortunate enough to dodge that bullet. Another much easier way to get crap besides assembling your own from thrift stores and dollar bstore finds is by playing the App game that is posted on the Woot app every Saturday at midnight CT.
Here’s a link to help watch for new postings in the Woot-off
What you’ll want to do if you’re a real-deal Wooter that is willing to ignore family, friends, and all other social responsibilities is watch the progress bar on the current Woot-off item. When it gets down to say 5% you’ll want to head on over to that handy dandy forum link I provided above and sit there and watch for the new item to be posted. If it’s something you want then you better purchase it immediately. If it’s not that appealing then you return to that product’s forum page and complain profusely about how bad it sucks and everyone that participated in its arrival on your screen suck and that you’ll never ship here again. This last step is critical of your future Woot success and how we know who the posers are.
Then repeat the above process until 10pm CT which is when most Woot-offs end.
Did you mention the part about not going to the bathroom all day?
Can’t tell them ALL the secrets. I purposely left that one out because that’s the most important one. That’s how you know a BoC is coming up, figuratively…
and I suppose literally.
No, the important one is you’ve got plenty of time to pee when the vinegar shows up.
Oh I know that too. I have a poster behind my command center desk that shows products along with their average sellout times from the past year’s Woot-offs. #InItToWinIt!
You’re my hero.
