I wonder if the chef Jeffrey Zakarian endorses this product?
They should have a video at least!
It does indeed appear he endorses it.

When I saw this I thought of this:

14 JUL…vive la guillotine

I’ve always liked the idea of the Mandolin Slicer, probably owned three or four, but my chef’s knife has been more convenient in the end.
French revolution cooking at its best.
I feel like woot needs to start having video commercials to entice us with said products?

If it’s OK, I’d like to talk about the product. I’ve had one for some time and generally like it.
Things I don’t like:
– The feed tube is fairly small, and slanted. If you want slanted slices, that’s great. I’ve used it with the feed tube removed for larger pieces or when I wanted a perpindicular slice. But of course you have to be very careful if you do that because it’s certainly possible to slice your fingers if you put them in the path of the blade(s).
– The ribbed platform will leave rib marks on your food if you press the pusher too hard.
The Brieftons VSafe video was interesting. The Zakarian slicer is really superior – the slice thickness can be adjusted from 0 to 8 mm in 0.2 mm increments rather than just 2 and 4 mm. You can get exactly the thickness you want (and 8 mm is about 1/3", so quite thick). This also means that you can adjust the height of julienne cuts (but there are only two widths). And since the blades aren’t removable, you don’t have to handle sharp blades and risk being cut.
It isn’t as fast as using a food processor, but it does things that most food processors can’t and is better for more delicate ingredients, so I’m glad I have it.
Yep he does on QVC
That was a thoughtful review, and far better than we deserve. My simple mind kept getting stuck with Dash and Safe being close together and so it must be able to secure to my car’s dashboard, which makes zero sense, and here you are actually helping the community!
