I wish I could say you were right, however this is actually the lowest priced 3090 on big vendors. Feel free to DYOR everyone, you can also use “pcpartpicker” to get accurate pricing. Yes, a 3090 may currently be bad for “price per performance”. However for the cheapest 3090, this is currently it.
If someone is looking for a great price per perfomance graphics card, 3070ti and a 6800 XT is great for price per performance, and at a fraction of the price.
The cheapest 6800 XT currently is $604.99, and is 5% faster than the 3080 card, which is on the low side, $929 currently.
I must agree. While this is an “okay deal” for a new 3090 card, you can get more bang for your buck by going to the other side of the aisle here. Specifically, the AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT can be found for around $100 less, and benchmarks higher than the 3090 Trinity OC in pretty much every category. The only thing it lags behind on is raytracing, which is not surprising at all surprising given AMD vs NVIDIA.
I’m sure there are cards that are reasonably close in performance that are even less expensive.
Could be a New open box crypto mining deal.

I pity the basement dweller who would spend so much of his parents’ money on such a thing.
And the 4080 is only $100 more than that. But I look at it as saving $100 and getting more GPU RAM, plus I’m going to undervolt it to save a few more pennies on the power supply.
