I have a question some may think of as dumb, but a safe answer.
Besides the batter that goes into car, can I buy a seperate small battery to place this inside car to use these outlets?? Like this below. If not can someone suggest one?
Please?
This might sound even dumber. Does that 15A fuse power the whole unit?
Yes, but size and capacity matters, and a non-spillable battery is a must. In the aforementioned example, it’s designed discharge for 3 amps per hour; 12V @ 3A = 36 watts per hour. Sealed lead acid (SLA) and absorbed glass mat (AGM) are able to discharge at higher capacity than designed (with a shorter life), lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4 or LFP) are only designed to discharge at it’s rating.
Do note that a separate battery has to be charged separately too.
As for the fuse, 12V @ 15A = 180 watts.
If the intention is to run 12V devices away from the car’s outlet, consider a power station instead.
(Note that I am not staff. I just volunteer to help out on the forums.)
Holy balls batman! That’s alot of everything I had no clue about. I really appreciate the details so I don’t die.
The lighter charger access is limited. The heater blower motor is non existing.
Therefore front windshield defroster doesn’t blow.
I purchased a separate unit that’s 200 watt that worked1st time, and blew the fuse the next. I replaced the fuse which is under hood. And battery is in trunk
I know nothing about this car.
I just wanted to have a defroster and a little heat for my dogs
You think I can put higher Amp fuses without catching fire to this unit and under hood?
I usually wouldn’t mess with any of this battery electric stuff peroid. Having it professionally done is not an option at this point.
Honestly I just looked at charger ports to see if they would work, the rest I didn’t until you pointed that out. I really appreciate you
You WILL run a risk of fire, so DO NOT do that!
Figure out what it will take to replace the blower motor on your vehicle; someone may have even posted a video on the whole process too. Run a search – there’s more to YouTube than just cat videos.
You should look on amazon for dc socket splitters. There are many to choose from. Heres an example. https://www.amazon.com/LIHAN-Cigarette-Splitter-Charging-Independent/dp/B0BQRD41GH this one has an on/off switch & also on/off buttons that control each socket. If you’re worried about having too many things charging ftom the same plug. You would only use these while in the car anyway, not something that you would leave on all the time to drain the battery.
I had a 3 socket splitter with independent buttons & it worked well. I just gave it away thru my local trashnothing group since i no longer needed it. I had alot of interest in that so you are not the only one who can use these things. Anyways good luck in your search.
I bought it! Thank you so much! I make really bad decisions when the weather is so extreme. My landlord just replaced the “Gravity” furnace on Wednesday, my brain is still thawing out.
