Amazon Basics Computer Replacement Cords

Amazon Basics Computer Replacement Cords

$6-$15 cord for $100+???

RIP woot.

Been here since day one. Wtf is this?

According to description, it’s a 24pack, so $120/24 = $5 each

lol ok. My bad didn’t realize 24 qty - but still.

I guess bulk cords might appeal - but even then doesn’t seem great. If anyone is interested I have about 20 in a crate in my closet. 6-10’.

Again my fault for shooting from hip assuming 1 for $xxx. Slinking back to my cave.

Oh - while I’m here: get off my lawn.

No worries!

To be fair, the “features” section is all over the place…
24 might not even be right. Could be 1 (15’), 4x10 (40 total), 10, 24, 1 (12’), 32, etc.
So I could understand the confusion.

  • IN THE BOX: (1) 15 foot power cord
  • UNIVERSAL POWER CORDS: 4x10-pack, total 40 count of 18 AWG (American wire gauge) universal power cords (NEMA 5-15P to IEC320C13)
  • IN THE BOX: 10-pack of 6 foot power cords
  • UNIVERSAL POWER CORDS:1-pack, total 24 count of 18 AWG (American wire gauge) universal power cords (NEMA 5-15P to IEC320C13)
  • IN THE BOX: (1) 12 foot power cord
  • UNIVERSAL POWER CORDS: 1-pack,total 32 count of 18 AWG (American wire gauge) universal power cords (NEMA 5-15P to IEC320C13)

Hello. I cleaned up the features. You’re getting 24 cords in either 12-foot or 15-foot lengths.

16 gauge? No thanks. That’s much too small for most power requirements for any device that uses this “plug form factor”.

Where are you getting “much too small” from? 25’ of 16 gauge cords are rated to 13 amps, and the IEC C13/C14 plug/receptacle itself is only rated to 10 amps – so any proper device using such plugs would have to consume less than 10 amps (1200w).

(Note that I am not staff. I just volunteer to help out on the forums.)
