Amazon Basics Warranty is Worthless

Ordered a 2-pack of Amazon Basics USB cables a few months ago. They are supposed to have a lifetime warranty from Amazon. One has developed a problem and I reached out to Woot for a replacement. I was told to contact Amazon CS. I thought Woot was owned by Amazon. I called Amazon and was told that I had to contact Woot. Can’t talk to anybody at Woot so I guess I’m stuck. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Won’t buy again on Woot

Each Woot sale has the warranty information on it. Do you have the sale link?

All is not lost tho. Try using an email to support@woot.com with your purchase date, order number, your name, etc. See what they say, you might be surprised, you might be disappointed, but I doubt that.

Yeah they’ve got some new customer support reps. Let’s see if @lioncow can help direct things to the right people.

To obtain instructions on how to obtain service under this limited warranty, contact customer service at 1-866-216-1072, or, alternatively, go to www.amazon.com/help and click the “Contact Us” button on the right hand side of the page. Customer service will ask you questions to determine your eligibility under this limited warranty. If you are eligible, a replacement order, repair order or refund will be issued, and you’ll be given instructions for returning the defective Product, postage paid. If we choose to send you a replacement or to repair your product, we will pay the cost of shipping the replacement or repaired Product to you.

I agree with @therealjrn, re-write Woot! Customer Service, identify the product you bought and show them that it included a limited lifetime warranty that Amazon is not honoring. Generally, they should provide you with a partial refund, a full refund, or a replacement if still available. Sometimes they even throw in a coupon for future use.

I’ve talked to 5 different reps at Amazon who all refuse to honor the warranty due to the item not being purchased from Amazon.com. I contacted woot help, who keeps telling me to talk to Amazon. Woot continues to sell these cables currently with a “lifetime warranty from Amazon”.

Hi there. Woot customer service couldn’t find any contacts from your email on your account. Regardless, they’ve taken care of you and you should have an email.

In the future, make sure you use the support form.

I bought a suitcase when Amazon used to offer a 3 year warranty on their luggage. Recently I had an issue with the zipper and Amazon will not honor the warranty published at time of purchase because at some undisclosed time Amazon they changed the warranty policy from 3 years to 1 year without notification and deleted the old warranty from their servers.

Numerous references can be found on Amazon and Google to the old warranty PDF link and I emailed the CSRs this information. https://m.media-amazon.com/images/G/01/Amazon-Basics/Warranty/Luggage_Warranty._CB514785408_.pdf Amazon reps assert that the Luggage Basics warranty has always been 1 year and will not honor the warranty. In fact, they even tried to box me in by requesting information that they know I cannot provide.

Overall I am very surprised that Amazon would act in this way to avoid fixing or replacing defective products sold embellished with their brand name.

Will I buy from Amazon again? Obviously yes. But will I trust their house brands warranties or claims? No. I will assume they won’t help me after the 30 days is up.
