Warranty Issue [RESOLVED]

On 2/23/21 I bought a used kindle from Woot. The kindle was advertised with a one year Amazon limited warranty. The kindle is broken and when I contacted Woot they referred me to Amazon. Amazon tells me the warranty expired on 3/30/21. Bottom line - Don’t trust Woot and beware their false advertising.

Doesn’t like a woot experience…sigh.

Check your account purchases and find the unit, then re-examine the sale you bought from by clicking on the picture. Amazon doesn’t usually warranty used items for more than 30 days.

You may accidentally be confusing the new units which did come with a one year Amazon warranty, from the one you purchased which likely had a 30 or 90 day Woot! warranty.

This is what was on the post:
AMAZON CERTIFIED REFURBISHED CONDITION ONLY: These tablets are Certified Refurbished by Amazon and come with a 1 Year Amazon Limited Warranty

I’m not sure there is anyone that likes getting ripped off.

I would suggest writing back to Woot’s Customer Service and explain what happened and ask if they can help. I wonder if Amazon doesn’t recognize when a unit has been resold (you said yours is used) and that the warranty needs to reflect that. That’s just speculation on my part, though.

(Please note: I don’t work for Woot, I just volunteer to help out here on the forums.)

Sorry for the problem. As @peaceetc stated, reach out to Woot! Customer Service. Explain what you’ve tried and they’ll help you out.

From a browser, use the Woot! Customer Service form.

In the Woot! App, choose Account from the bottom navigation and then Support.

Note: Woot! Customer Service replies go to the email address on your Woot! account, not your Amazon login email if used/different.

Was that in the listing or the section that says “warranty”? Sometimes Woot! accidentally places copy from the Amazon sale in their sales copy without editing it. They usually offer discounts on the same goods because they replace the original warranty with their own shorter warranty.

Some of my favorite Woots have been refurbished items.

I sent Woot the whole transcript with Amazon and Woot blew me off and said there was nothing they could do. Since Woot included the Amazon warranty in the listing but won’t honor it and apparently doesn’t really have anything set up with Amazon for a customer to fufill the warranty, Woot is using false advertising to sell products.

Or… if you see contradictory info about warranties in a listing, you should clarify those contradictions with the seller before you make a purchase, because you could end up in a situation exactly like this.

I’ve bought many refurbished items from woot and never had an issue. I’m sure woot will make it right.

I’m sure Woot has blown me off. Here is the actual warranty info copied/pasted from the listing: AMAZON CERTIFIED REFURBISHED CONDITION ONLY: These tablets are Certified Refurbished by Amazon and come with a 1 Year Amazon Limited Warranty

I’m not sure how anyone thinks I misread the warranty info or that the warranty info was contradictory. I loved shopping at Woot and never had any problems before. Frankly I’m shocked that I’m going through this over a $40 refurbished tablet. I’m glad this isn’t a lesson I learned with a much more expensive item. It’s obvious that Woot isn’t going to do anything about this so I’ll see if my claim with the Better Business Bureau leads to anything. Consider this a public service announcement. I’ve spent tons of money over the last few years with Woot and they obviously don’t care about customer service or loyal customers.

Then I guess the question becomes:

The info you posted seems to indicate that there was a choice with the refurbs, so how do you know that the refurb you got was actually an Amazon Certified Refurb?

Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, here’s what happened.

The item was actually sold with a 90-day woot warranty and that’s what we see on our end. BUT, we have this stupid problem with URL slugs that will sometimes take you to the current/latest sale if the URL looks the same. The latest sale for this item has the 1 year warranty which is what probably what you’re seeing from your order history or clicking from the original forum thread.

Took us a bit to figure this out. Anyhoo, you have an email from customer service that should resolve things.
