What do you think guys?are any of these worth it? Which model should I choose this one or wait for a newer one?.. I was thinking about getting the red one … 32 GB … $25 seems like a good price. Yeah but two gigs of RAM I don’t know. I had the HD 8 like the 2021 I think or 19 and it had two gigs of ram. It was okay. It would do better with 3
If you plan on getting a new one, Amazon would offer a 25% discount for trading in an old device.
Depends on your use case. If you want a snappy, fast operation, you might want to look elsewhere. This also doesn’t use the Google play store, but the Amazon app store. For casual streaming? It works good enough for me. I bought a 2018 fire tab for $20. It chills in my kitchen when I want to watch YouTube while cooking/prepping/cleaning. Other than that it’s an emergency entertainment device in case of a hurricane. Love old school emulation. Great tablet to keep kids busy, too.
Well the red ones are the fastest.
But for me, I had to move away from the admittedly inexpensive Fire tablets and just go with a regular Samsung Android tablet.
I found the Amzn Fire environment limiting and not doing what I needed. Even the browser was sending everything up thru Seattle for only Bezos knows why.
But for a cheapo tablet they are magnificent.
I usually install play store myself, it’s pretty simple and for the price it’s a steal. Good for streaming as u said as well as I got two for the kids to use at school as they tend to damage tablets pretty often.
Yep yep, did this as well with mine to watch YouTube. And somehow the kiddos seem to break things in the most inventive and mysterious ways lol
I would honestly say not to buy this, mine just won’t charge no matter what I do. Woot gave me a refund and I was able to keep it but it’s just sort of a dead device I have to recycle sadly. I would get a replacement but frankly I don’t want to spend the money again.
Caution: compatibility might not be assured but this may be useful.

To add to your post:
Amazon Fire tablets from 2014 to 2017 run on Fire OS 5.x which is based on Android Lollipop 5.1.1. Lollipop was released in 2015 and the last official security patch is dated March 2018, 5 years ago. I know Amazon pushes updates beyond 2018 but those are probably for Amazon’s own software like their App Store, Prime Video/Music/Kindle/ShopAmazon/SilkBrowser/Alexa apps.
I’d consider not doing anything involving important personal or financial information via browser or app (e-mail, banking). Consider using an alternate Google account if you put Google Play/Gmail/YouTube apps on it, since your primary Google/Gmail account is often linked to important info and logins to other important account.
Google Play store may only have old versions of apps (Chrome, YouTube, etc) that support Lollipop which is another concern, and most banking/financial apps will not support Lollipop at all (even Walmart app requires Android 7.1, McDonald’s requires 8.0, though social media apps tend to be more lenient, and also allow old versions downloaded elsewhere to be used).
Fire tablets from 2018 to 2021 run on Fire OS 7.x based on Android 9 Pie (official security patch ended January 2022). Fire tablets 2022 (7" and 8") run on FireOS 8.x based on Android 11 which is still supported.
With that said, these old tablets are good for media consumption, kitchen, kids, etc, if apps you need are still available and compatible.
