This is the best of the Fire Tablets. Cannot beat the price.

Hmmm…
That depends…
Hopefully, the display orientation bug I experienced, that AMZN didn’t fix at the time, and mentioned in my post:

for AMZN Fire HD 10 G9/2019/KFMAWI/“Maverick” running FireOS7 is resolved.

What makes it the best one?
Can you put Google Chrome on it?
Fast enough to run video like YouTube?
Startup fast? I’ll be using it for security cams while in bed.

Sometimes you can get the 2021 version for brand new $75. I mean that’s obviously a 50% markup but it has like $$35 in resale value on Amazon alone.

But more importantly it has USBC… I still have to have some micro USB cables around for my PlayStation 4 controller and an old Kindle but I hate to buy new products with the micro USB connector…

But of course if you got a budget of 50 bucks then you only got a budget of 50 bucks.

You can side load the Google Play store. It’s not officially supported but if you’re at all tech savvy you can download for APK files in order and the Google Play store will show up.

Theoretically it could break with an update and you’d have to do it again although I’ve had the Google Play store working on my fire OS tablet for like a year without any issue.

From there you can pretty much run any Play store app you want besides the third party launchers and really quirky things.

There might be a version of Chrome on the Amazon app store but I tend to doubt it, they push you towards silk. There used to be a version of Firefox.

But anyways it’s worth taking the time to download the Google Play store. There is a little bit of a learning curve but once you download the 4 APKs in order you’ll be fine

Technically the best one would be the 11-in one they just released but that’s at least $150. I think it’s 225 MSRP and 150 when it’s on sale.

Then there’s a 10 inch one from 2021 which is very similar to the one listed here but it has USB-C and a slight spec bump. It’s 150 MSRP and can go on sale for 75 or 80. There is also a model from there that you can get with wireless charging for an extra price. I think it’s like a 30 or $50 premium to get the one with wireless charging. But you also have to pay for the wireless charger separately.

This one is from 2019 so it still has micro USB but you could still absolutely watch YouTube videos with it. Definitely capable of that on pretty much any fire OS tablet.

If you want something with a little more power You could try to find the Lenovo Chromebook duet which I’ve seen on sale for less than. Or m10. Galaxy s6 lite is sometimes really cheap. oNN , the Walmart brand, has some serviceable tablets that compete with the fire tablets and run full versions of Android

I don’t know if any of them are quite as cost-effective just because Amazon basically sells these things for cost. They might even be loss leaders when they’re on sale. They’re willing to basically not profit off the hardware but they get their money back by having ads on the lock screen, and trying to get you into buying Amazon services. Amazon music, Kindle unlimited, obviously Amazon prime… It used to come with an excellent Washington Post app and six free months but Kindle stopped having a new stand altogether.

Nope. 2017 has micro USB.
This one, 2019 has USB C.

@btb601
Loads very fast. No Chrome or Firefox app on Amazon App Store. Uses Silk browser which works well.
Runs You Tube videos & movies from Prime video.

“ WooWooWoo911” & “ Mcorcoran3”,

Since you own KFMAWI/“Maverick”, please assist. Does that mentioned irritating bug which AMZN re-introduced back into the OS get resolved/re-taken-out by the current FireOS7 rev that gets downloaded to this gen? Please kindly advise (so I can decide to get one for myself or not when the next sale rolls around).

Thank you in advance.

From above:

Battery life is good, and recharges quickly.

Yes…

And…
The portrait vs landscape orientation display bug…? Still existent or resolved by AMZN FireOS Engineering?

I have not had any problem with screen orientation. I use 99% in portrait, rarely in Show mode.
