Apple 10.2" iPad 9 (2021) (S&D)

Cannot imagine paying $225 for a used, unknown battery condition iPad 9, with 90 day Woot warranty when it remains available brand new, with Apple 1-year warranty, regularly for $250-270.

Most recently earlier this week from Amazon for $250. But Costco and Microcenter, amongst others, have also been regularly selling it for $250 this year.

As this comment is written:
$250 Walmart
$266 Target
$270 Amazon, Best Buy, and Microcenter

Betting as the holiday season arrives, it will settle in regularly at $250 almost everywhere.

(Edit: I missed that this used Woot iPad has cellular, but most folks don’t need cellular, particularly non-business users - they tether to their smartphones when WiFi isn’t available. If you don’t see yourself adding $10/month to your cell plan cost to add this iPad, you don’t need the cellular feature. Our first iPad had cellular and other than turning it briefly on as a novelty, we never again used the cellular feature)

Agree 100%

good point. When do you think these will get even less than 250 for new ones? some think they should be less. And all new Apple iPads no matter where you buy them comes with a one-year warranty? why people buy AppleCare for iPad? They’re pretty reliable

These iPads, at $250, new, are a bargain. Amazing functionality and durability for that price. If history serves, other than a few outliers, new, they never drop below $250, hinting to me that the wholesale price from Apple is somewhere around there.

This is not some crappy plasticy tablet. These tablets are built bulletproof strong and durable. Of the many iPads our family has owned, not a single one has failed. They age out due to older cpus.

Woot apparently responded and dropped the price from $250 to $225.

If you truly need the added cellular feature - perhaps your phone plan doesn’t include hotspot tethering (?)… this $225 price looks more interesting. Although, you might be able to bump your phone plan to around include tethering for the same $10 (or less) per month that carriers tend to charge to add a cellular tablet to your account.

Note the price step at Apple, new, for adding the cellular is a still crazy $130 (no way it costs them more than $20). Apple has been charging that +$130 cellular step since the iPad 2 (we own one). So the MSRP a of the wifi only iPad 9 is $329 and the wifi + cellular is $459. The Wi-Fi + Cellular model rarely goes into loss-leader pricing like the wifi only model.

Clearly Apple suspects folks who need the cellular feature are willing to pay. Guessing that is typically businesses.

Bought this because we have 2 young kids and it would be nice to not have to worry about tethering on car trips. Sadly they actually sent a Wifi only model so definitely a bad deal.

I’m sorry. Please reach out to Woot! Customer Service. To speed things up, let them know if you prefer a return/refund or a replacement (if possible).

Please allow 24-48h for them to respond.

Browser: Use the Woot! Customer Service form.

Woot! App: Choose Account from the bottom navigation and then Support.

Self-Return: Items without Li-Ion batteries can be self-returned within 30 days. Go to your Order Details to get started. The return label will be emailed from UPS.

Note: Woot! Customer Service replies go to the email address on your Woot! account, not your Amazon login email if used/different.

I also got a wifi only model. Woot refuses to make it right. They told me they were reaching out to the vendor and I’d hear back in 2-3 business days. That was over ten business days ago and they have ignored my emails. I opened another case today and got an RMA label, but no communication as to whether this is to send me the correct device. Customer Service is utterly horrid and I’m done with these bait and switch artists.

Hi there. Sorry for the problem with the iPad. I see that a replacement was entered yesterday in our system. You should have an email.

no such luck…

I am going to follow through with the RMA and hope for the best…

Confirmed with CS that they sent an email on 11/2/2023 at 10:56am stating that they had ordered a replacement. Make sure you check junk/spam folders.

checked, double checked, triple checked…

all folders search:

I’ll ask them to resend then.

Nevermind. The email was there in your trash.

Several emails above the highlighted one, it says that they’re sending out a replacement.

LOL. So it was.
