Apple iPhone 15 - Unlocked (New - Open Box)

Why would Apple replace your broken/used phone with a brand new phone? They don’t. They give you a factory refurbished one that comes in a brown box. Sure it’s basically new but it’s not the same as a new one from the store.

Here’s what Apple says: “iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 models are activated with an eSIM and do not support a physical SIM. Use of eSIM requires a wireless service plan (which may include restrictions on switching service providers and roaming, even after contract expiration). Not all carriers support eSIM. Use of eSIM in iPhone may be disabled when purchased from some carriers. See your carrier for details.”

US models are eSIM only starting with iphone 14. If you require a physical SIM, then you’ll have to buy one from outside the US.

You should probably look up the stats of the phone that might help that was our listed in several different places.

So you can’t even buy an AppleCare warranty for these, correct? If they originally came from Apple, why would that be the case?

Because they said so.

Could an assurion plan for electronics be added on for this phone from Amazon instead of the Apple plus?

When it’s a brand new device there aren’t any refurbished units to send out so the manufacturer has to rely on a supply of new devices created specifically for this purpose. This phone only released in September, and if attrition rates have been lower than expected it’s not unreasonable for them to have an overstock of warranty replacement devices that are unneeded. At a certain point, it’s more advantageous for them to refurbish old devices and ship the new units to the secondary market than just pile returned units in an e-waste bin.

I HAVE JUST SPENT half an hour with Straight Talk, who says the IMEI numbers come back as tied to a previous carrier. We tried IMEI, and IMEI2 without success. So now I have an $800 paperweight, as I have not been able to transfer service my my previous SE to this iPhone 15. So, how do I go back to the Dealer here, WOOT or APPLE to get this resolved or just get my money back and buy one full price without these problems? ? ? ? ? ?

Just got my “new” phone. The box has a test station label that indicates “Erase successful” and fully functional. I suppose that could indicate that it was powered on to test, buy why would you do that with a new device? I believe Excellent condition refurbished is probably a better description. Anyone see any indication on the phone itself that it’s used or new?

Might have been a double check by the vendor before sending out:

Why isn’t Woot/Amazon offering up a warranty service like Assurion to add on for consumers to purchase. I would have bought this item if that was the case. Too many uncertainties on this one. I am just not that brave so I pass.

Got mine yesterday. It had an inspected and erased statement card on it. It looked new, no battery cycles, no cord but for the money, it is a good deal. If you want apple care go buy one from Apple.

Like everything else here, it’s a manual step to add it in. They likely just forgot. Here you go:

Optional Asurion Protection Plan: To further protect your purchase, you can buy an Asurion protection plan from Amazon here. Review the FAQs for additional information.

My 14 is pretty dang nice if you ask me. Benefit of going to a 15 is type-c charging port and having to use a lighting port charger is no longer required. Win-Win.

Everything checks out on my end, clean IMEI and all . Nice upgrade for my mother who can finally leave her iPhone 8 behind. Wish it included a USB C cord but that’s minor for someone with a plenty of C cords around.

Similar to others, I thought it was weird the sticker said erase successful and Grade A+ but phone details showed a March 2024 as the manufacture date and June 2024 for first use.

Thanks Woot

I have never seen a battery screen like this before. Is it something to do with iPhone 15? my 14 and 14 pro max don’t show such battery screen with data of when it was manufactured or first used. Also if this doesn’t come with a cable which apple claim can only fast charge iPhone 15, then it’s a bummer as non apple c cables are known to slow charge iPhone 15. Also I find Best Buy, Costco and Amazon do sell iPhone 15 a $100 off during sale periods. a good time to buy a apple warranted phone during that time rather than this which is also only a $100 off…

A suitable cable will fast charge an iPhone. Just be sure to use an MFI cable and a 20W minimum charger.
