You can get an iPhone 15 for $699 from Apple (or iPhone 16 for $799 or $829), which includes full warranty and an original USB-C charging cable, plus any color choice, versus here at $549.99 without full warranty and without the charging cable, and it’s only available in Black now.
That’s like a 22% off a new iPhone 15 from Apple, and 33% cheaper than iPhone 16.
Am I missing something? How do you get 40% off iPhone 15 when I see only 33% compared to 16?

Apple is still manufacturing and importing even iPhone 13, from India to the US, so, the idea that they have lots of old stock of iPhone 15 doesn’t hold much water. You can almost always get a free iPhone from all the prepaid carriers, last year, it’s been iPhone 12, now it’s iPhone 13, from all the major prepaid carriers, from Metro, to Cricket, to Boost.
At a minimum, Apple will likely continue to manufacture iPhone 15 for a few more years.

That depends what capacity you’re looking for. $650 for a 512gb iPhone 15 is a phenomenal discount, and even Apple Refurb is $879, or $999 new. 35% off brand new price for an iPhone 15 512gb.

Can anyone share which model number these are?

I ordered one (black, 256gb) on 6/3/2025 and received it within 6 days. It appears to be brand new with 100% battery and zero cycle count. It also shows Manufacture Date of January 2024 and First use of June 2025. I would say this is a great purchase and the deal is legitimate.

Apple offers factory refurbs which are phones assembled in the factory that didn’t pass a final series of checks during the first production attempt so they set it aside for a second team to repair/fix at the factory and reassemble for “factory refurb” sale.
I can’t say for sure but it’s almost like Apple had a large batch of factory refurb 15’s they pushed out to third party sellers without a warranty. The white protective screen decals don’t have volume and power markings on them and the box isn’t right for it to be a true apple refurb box, but for refurbs, these seem to be about as perfect as you can ask for.
If they aren’t refurb’s, but apple had a large batch that were improperly packaged I could see apple bulk selling them to third party vendors without warranty and require that they be repackaged.
If a notable portion of a shipment experienced some sort of damage to packaging in transit and instead of inspecting the entire shipment once it arrived I could see apple bulk selling them to third party vendors without warranty and require that they be repackaged.
I also think the idea that they were ordered for a corporate/government contract without retail packaging and it fell through is reasonable but I have a hard time seeing Apple eating the loss on the backing out. If the product had not been delivered I could see Apple or the company/government agency that purchased them working togheter to bulk sell them to third party vendors without warranty and require that they be repackaged. If Apple was delayed on delivery for such a contract, I could see Apple having to eat the cost and moving the product through third party sellers without a warranty.
I could also see Apple popping open retail new phones and selling to third party vendors after they sat on the shelf for a certain amount of time knowing they had new products coming out just to clear them out of the regular retail system.
Edit to add: I had great success with the screen protector with an install tray kit by EZ-GLAZ (Amazon.com: EZ-GLAZ-4 Pack for iPhone 15/iPhone 16 Screen Protector[6.1"] 9H+ Hardness 12FT Military Grade Shatterproof Long Durable Tempered Glass Film with Flawless Fit Box, HD Clear, Scratch Resistant : Cell Phones & Accessories)
They may all be this easy when they come with an installation tray now, but that was a first for me and it came out flawless on the first attempt.

Just curious, when you activated on your Apple account, what warranty period shows up in Settings, About? 1 year from your activation? 1 year from some earlier date? Or…? A t D h V a A n N k C s E

Can I use this unlocked phone for networks outside of US? Also, is it physical sim or eSIM?

Is it physical sim or eSIM ? Did you have to make an additional payment for activation?

As mentioned earlier in thread this is US model so eSIM. Check with your carrier for compatibility.

No warranty coverage through Apple
Not eligable for AppleCare+
All of that is consistent with the product description. The vendor provides a 1 year product support/warranty. In my experience with Woot over the years, if they fail to follow-through Woot would make it right.
My carrier appears to be willing to offer their highest coverage insurance which includes repairs and such for what it’s worth.

Some credit cards or banks will also offer coverages. My CC has baked-in insurance for damage (physical, not software or glitches) as long as my cell phone bill is paid on the card (less a small deductible). I haven’t needed it, but good to know there’s coverage in case the $3 Woot case I put on it doesn’t protect it from being hurled off the top of a skyscraper. If the battery or internals go haywire, then I’m on my own after the 1-year warranty that came with it expires. But better than nothing…..
So far, however, it’s been working 4.0. Zero complaints. Even recommended to my dad that replace his iPhone 11 with one.

Received my 512 black today - approx a week after ordering.
- shipped from Florida
- it came in a rather hilarious black “phone” box
- Grade A+ according to screen protecting sticker
- Came with 17.6.1 installed
- Battery is at 100% and had zero cycles
- Manufacture date of Aug 2024 - first use June 2025, but that seems to have been for a wipe at the factory
- It’s in perfect / pristine condition as described
- Apparently AppleCare for it expired in 2007 which is odd? But maybe it’s grabbing into from my Apple account or something
So far so wonderful! If you’re in the market for a new / travel phone this is a great deal.

2007 is “year 0” for iOS/iPhone so that AppleCare expiration date must be conveying that it never had it active in the first place (nevermind that this particular device didn’t exist back then.)

Does this hold the record for the longest running Woot deal? I think it started November last year. I also think it’s nonsense to believe anything other than the most likely, which is that Apple is selling these phones as “refurbished” but doesn’t want to tell anyone. HP has done this for years - trade off no warranty in exchange for a discount price. For something like an iPhone, everybody wins, it’s a good deal all around.

Woot has stated these were bought by a corporation and were never distributed to end users. Could they be refurbished? Possibly. Regardless, everyone who has bought one has reported the same thing. All looked new and confirmed that they have never been charged. The pricing is better than anything else you can find and Apple, from what I can recall, has a pretty good track record on their products being well built where not much happens in the first year of purchase.
