Can you buy an extended warranty on this?
Or, do we only get the Woot warranty?
Hi there. Scratch-n-Dent items aren’t eligible for added protection. Sorry.
To make the choices (not all colors available) more clear:
41mm $260
41mm with cellular $280
45mm $270
45mm with cellular $280 (odd it is the same for both sizes)
The Apple Watch Series 7 is virtually identical to the latest Series 8 released last fall. The only differences are “cycle tracking” via temperature sensor for women and crash detection. Crash detection is also on the the iPhone 14.
Since the Series 7 has been clearing out over the past several months, you can save a lot of money going with it vs the Series 8 and not lose much if any needed functionality. Unfortunately supplies of new Series 7 watches are drying up. An exception is the Series 7 45mm with cellular for $329 at Walmart. This was a $529 MSRP watch.
$10 or $20 extra for the cellular version is a no-brainer. You can ignore the feature - you do not need to activate it - and the Watch works just like the non-cellular version. But if you run or work in situations where you do not wish to carry your phone with you, activating the cellular feature with your carrier typically adds $10/month, just like an iPad with cellular… and now the Watch operates independent of your phone. You can make and receive calls and texts without your phone being within 30-40 feet.
Wow!
Thanks for posting.
We were looking for a smartwatch that also kept track of oxygen saturation, and we heard the Apple Watch Series 7 was just as good as the 8.
Our concern was with these being refurbished…we wanted to make sure the waterproofing seals on the watches were replaced/restored to OEM standards. So we would want to get one with an extended warranty.
I’d be shocked to learn any 1-year old refurb Apple Watch had that done, even by Apple themselves unless they replaced the battery. And that isn’t likely on a 1-year old watch.
I wouldn’t be so concerned about that, but if you are, buying new might be the answer.
We had one friend purchase an Apple Watch 8 after his Series 7 (after it had some work done on it) “leaked” some water during a hydrotherapy session.
So we were a little concern about the refurb watch not being waterproof.
Call me cheap or paranoid, but in spite of the claimed swimming capability waterproofness, I will not be intentionally immersing my pricy Apple Watch under water. I remove it and start the charge while showering. I don’t worry about rain or washing hands and dishes.
The watch does have a water eject process that you are supposed to use after immersing it under water.
We even placed our friend’s watch in a bag of uncooked rice to draw out any trapped moisture…
Our friend needed to keep track of his O2 saturation. If it drops below a certain point, he has to increase the O2 on his tank.
Our friend wasn’t swimming with the watch, but it occasionally got submerged during his hydrotherapy sessions.
