I bought one of these after seeing the commercial on TV last month and will say this is the best flashlight I have ever owned. I have a Maglight that I purchased at Home Depot for 60 bucks before the summer and this light is way brighter, just as durable plus it’s also waterproof (tried and tested in the toilet by my kids -_-). Going to stock up on these bad boys!
I initially wrote the reviews for this don’t seem to be stellar because of a number of non-Amazon reviews I read online. But I see this does get good reviews on Amazon so I need to eat my words. But I’m still going to mention one as an inexpensive alternative for anyone who may not need a tactical model. Actually, I guess it’s just I’ve been using this one for years and because I’m so happy with it I just wanted to share. It has amazing light output and is zoomable and, is currently selling for $7.99 at Amazon. When I went to it to get the URL I noticed some bad reviews but, as I said, I’ve been using them for years and couldn’t be more pleased. But every product has some bad reviews however the Lighting Ever averages 4.6 stars with over 2,700 reviews so I think it’s safe to say it’s a good product. I bought my first because I didn’t believe you could get anything good for such a low price, but boy was I wrong. I’ve had 3 of them for a few years now that I keep in the car and around the house and they all work great. Anyway, I just thought I’d mention an alternative to the B&H.
Can you use an 18650 rechargeable lithium battery instead of the AAA battery cartridge? Most flashlights that have this type of battery cartridge you can.
Also to the poster above, on amazon this like appears to be $22.50 prime.
There are two things to consider when purchasing this flashlight (or any similar light). First, they don’t list the battery life, and when using only three AAA’s it certainly won’t be long. Typical use for a flashlight might be only a few minutes at a time, but if you need it for an extended period you might be better served with something using larger cells. If you are taking it camping or using it extensively for night/dark work (or letting the grandkids play with it), just remember to take some extra batteries.
The next thing would be the claim of “Up to 600 lumens”, which always seems to inspire arguments in many forums. While you might actually get 600 lumens, it will be for only a few moments right after you load in brand new high capacity batteries and then it will tail off steadily (and quickly) after that. While even 200-300 lumens would be considered a very bright light, just know that 600 is not a reasonable expectation for this light in continuous use - it’s just an advertising claim.
And since nobody asked, my current favorite flashlight is the ZX-Series 3-C Focusing Flashlight by Dorcy (41-0903). It is pricier than the Bell+Howell by a factor of three, but it uses C-cell batteries for much longer life and is slightly longer without being too big. You can find it here, and it is also pretty easy to locate a coupon code to get a discount.
This is a former “As Seen on TV” product. Most of the complaints I’ve seen about it is from not getting one after ordering from the commercial or being delayed a long time. The light is apparently okay for a fairly cheap flashlight, but the commercial was a bit misleading. “TacLight” apparently has a meaning that this light doesn’t quite fit. Not sure I’d get one to use if my life depended on it, but as a bright, occasional-use type thing it should be okay, at least as near as I can tell.

Yes and they work even better on the 18650s than on AAAs.
Wow, the Bell & Howell branding is a real blast from the past!
One of the first flashlights I ever owned personally was a Bell+Howell labeled penlight the company handed out at an open house event, back before Bell & Howell changed their business model from making stuff to licensing out the venerable name.
What about this? Comes with 18650 charger not the battery. Looks the same. Great reviews. Cheaper.
