This might make woot made but I bought this from yugster for 30.oo. It is really cool. We got it out for the hurricane. You can put a pan on top and cook just like on a stove. The filter sucks up all the fumes. You do have to charge it. It is really light weight and small to take camping even backpacking and hiking.
Here’s a real-world test, plus a bunch of technical jargon and Canadian oil-field bullshittery: BOLTR: Biolite Stove | Camping Gear - YouTube
A lot of reviews say this is gimmicky. that the burn chamber is so small you need to stock the fire with twigs every 5-10 minutes and burn for hours to charge a modern cell phone…
Clearly it’s small… but if you’ve got no way to boil water, shoving sticks in every 10 minutes is the least of your worries. Puerto Rico could use a whole lot of these right now, and I’m sure they wouldn’t mind stuffing a few sticks in to keep it going… even if it took 5 hours to charge a phone, that’s better than 5 days with nothing. Just my 2 cents.
I survived irma, and the 5 days without power… #miami
If this were one of their bundles, i might consider buying, but a lot of the reviews also say without the grill attachment, its pretty much a furnace…
Yeah this first generation stove today on woot is a bit weak compared to the one review in the video link.
The current one (second generation) has a more efficient converter, a battery and improved air flow.
But still, for a handful of twigs every 30 minutes to let you use your phone add a camera and music device, not a bad deal for the last generation model.
Just keep your phone in airplane mode

^^ Both good points. I almost forgot, this is a Woot sale, so there’s usually a reason why it’s cheap. ![]()
>.<
Does it burn yak dung?
Does anything?
What the heck is this? I see a stove like thing. I see a place with aids port. No part of the description even says what this is. Not everyone is Automatically knows what this is and if I have to look it up on an external webpage then woot did a poor poor job explaining what it is and the bennifits of having an orange electric Block next to a flame. Does it make the flame stay lit I stead of fuel? Does it replace wood you may need? The specs and description is the poorest I have seen yet. Thanks.
Did you try… reading the description?
It says what it does there.
The current generation is only $10 more on their website. I’m assuming it’s power generation technology is more advanced.
That’s the CookStove. It doesn’t charge things. The CampStove 2 on that website is $130.
That’s the COOKstove, not the CAMPstove. I had to do a double-take myself…
It says and shows in decent detail what it does. ???
In Puerto Rico I would think a Solar charger would work far better for an energy source, maybe something like this https://www.amazon.com/Charger-RAVPower-Waterproof-Foldable-Smartphones/dp/B00OQ0CAW6/ref=zg_bs_2407762011_4?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=J0Q4A7XE8H3HZW0GV1ZJ and use a lithium ion battery to store energy at night. As far as a fire you can build that pretty much anywhere if you need to boil water. I think this is more gimmicky gizmo than it is a truly effective survival tool.
Something cool.
I love AVE. ![]()
