<After 4 cuts update!>
Got mine on Monday and used for the first time today. Solid 4.8 stars <4.9 upon further review>. The push button line feed works every time and it’s easy to switch between trimmer/edger mode. Battery lasted long enough edge my front lawn and around patio in back (.25 acre lot). I really like the edger guide wheel. The lines in my yard look like they were cut with a scalpel! <Update: the battery does not have a power indicator, which could be an issue for people with larger lawns, but I’ve never run out of battery life mid-cut. I typically use it on high power mode for 20-30 min.>
<Update: I cannot stress enough how great the push button line feed works. Especially in comparison to my bump feed Greenworks, where the button is on the bottom, so it’s impossible to “bump” in edger mode because that puts the button in the side, not bottom. Additionally, bumping also meant taking a chunk out of my lawn because it has to be spinning when bumped. The B&D completely fixes this issue. Furthermore, the spool is still more than half full of line after 4 cuts. I was re-spooling the GW every 3 cuts.>
My only minor quibble is that it’s single line trimmer, so it takes a tiny bit longer to edge than double line. <Update: this is not an issue anymore. Now that I am in the “maintenance” phase of edging, versus creating the path, the cutting speed is comparable> HOWEVER, it’s a HUGE upgrade over my POS Greenworks trimmer (DO NOT buy the Greenworks trimmer listed below. Just spend the extra money to get something that actually works and avoid the headache). As long as the B&D is still going strong after a few more cuts, the Greenworks one is destined for the trash can <Update: In the trash can>
Mine arrived this afternoon. Once the battery is charged I’ll see how well it works. I’m just glad it isn’t as big as the shipping box made it appear.
