Blink XT Home Security - 2 Camera Kit

Blink XT Home Security - 2 Camera Kit

Good morning. I am wondering whether a Blink Sync Module is required, based on these two comments from the description:

  1. “If you take advantage of this steal, you will be receiving a 2-Camera Kit that is labeled as an Add-On Camera.”

  2. “Start off with a small system and expand to up to 10 cameras on one Blink Sync Module”

Also, in the Amazon reviews, a Base Station is mentioned.

Thank you for any information.

Going by the specifications tab, it seems like it comes with a module. What I want to know is if I could buy two sets and use it as a four-camera system?

Thank you for pointing that out. In return, the second statement in my first post seems to be saying that you can use up to ten cameras in a single setup.

I have the Blink X2 cams. I have 3 of them using one sync module.

That is correct. You can link up to 10 cameras per sync module. I currently have 6 cameras on my system.

This version doesn’t seem to have a way to talk to the person in the video. The newer ones do.

As with their GEN 2 cameras, you can use ONE module per 10 cameras. I have 3 cameras on one but something you should know.

  1. When you add these to your network, you can only view one camera at a time. They are all there, just one viewable at a time. Have not tried to connect my Blue Iris software to these cams to see if there’s a work around but it’s not a deal breaker for what I use them for.
  2. To view another camera, you exit the active camera (the one you are viewing) and select another camera
  3. Takes a few seconds to connect. Even if your phone is on the home wifi network, it takes a few seconds to connect.
  4. If the cameras is recording an “event”, you will get a “camera is busy” warning and you can’t view the camera till it’s done recording the event
  5. If you not on your home network, takes longer to access the camera and view.
  6. You can set these to send you a snapshot or video to see the even and set the amount of time it records the event. This is fine when you want to save battery life.
  7. The module will go off line sometimes all by itself and reconnect. I’ve tried two different modules and even gave it it’s own SSID on my wifi to connect too, still happens. No other IOT devices in my house does this.
  8. Battery life for the normal person setup is about half what it says. Mine is about 6-8 months. I’ve since adjusted how long it records and type of alerts it sends (now I just use snap shots). I can access the video if I feel it’s needed.

Well, the good thing is, and it’s a big thing to me is the ability to move these around. I have a 8 camera hardwired system. These BLINKS are just fill ins. When I go on a trip, I will move them to areas of the house I want to view while I’m gone. Otherwise, I have one outside, one in my garage and another in an exterior room. The audio on the xt2’s is great and you can mix and match them if you get a deal on ether model. One thing to note. If you loose your internet connection, they are worthless. They can’t connect to the “cloud” so you not only loose connection to them, they don’t record anything. Something AMAZON doesn’t really warn you about but in my experience with cloud devices, I knew this going in. If these had micro sd card ability, at least you can get a recording and access but then again, how can they sell you cloud services past the 7 days you get for free if they did that. Just my 2 cents and maybe others have solutions to get around the above issues.

I currently have only one xt2 Gen2 camera on my module right now, so are you saying that my module is going to be more susceptible to go off line when i connect these xt Gen1 cameras onto my xt2 gen2 module? because at the moment i have a great connection, only went offline (for about 15 mins) once in the 7 months i had the camera system.

I ordered this “2 camera kit” expecting two cameras. WRONG, I got ONE camera wrapped in bubble wrap, no cables, no second camera, no module, PERIOD. This is a BAIT AND SWITCH scam. As I had suspected, WOOT is a shopping venue to stay away from since you never know what you are going to get since the descriptions are copy & pasted from other offerings that are most likely describing a totally different offering. This is because English is their second or third language but our money is good.

I had the same thing happen. I emailed customer service because that is not what was advertised.

I also was expecting this to be a 2 camera kit and it was a single camera with NOTHING else. I expect Woot! will make it right by either a full refund or to send out another camera or 2, but is such a shame to have them advertise one thing and then send something else.

Read this if you got a single camera

Hi all. I’ve notified the electronics team. They are working with the vendor to see what happened. We knew from the vendor that some boxes were mislabeled but the contents were supposed to be correct.

In the meantime, please reach out to Woot! Customer Service.

From a browser, use the Woot! Customer Service form.

In the Woot! App, choose Account from the bottom navigation and then Support.

I got a camera and some bubble wrap… after logging a ticket they offered to check with the vendor for a replacement or a 15 $ refund… I really hope they read my mail to understand I didn’t get anything besides one camera and can send the rest of the product.

Same here - just 1 camera and nothing else. Customer Service has been good in the past, so hopefully they will issue a refund. But, this is the 2nd time in a row with the product they have shipped. I’m a loyal Amazon shopper, but probably taking a break from Woot.

Also received only 1 camera like a few others have posted. Waiting to hear back from customer service to make it right. First time I’ve encountered anything like this with Woot before.

Blink XT Camera Kit:
• (2) Blink Camera(s) - RECEIVED ONLY ONE OF THESE
THE REST BELOW IS MISSING
• (1 per camera) Mounting Kit
• (2 per camera) AA 1.5v Non-rechargeable Lithium Batteries
• (1) Quick Start Guide
• (1) Sync Module
• (1) USB Cable
• (1) Power Adapter

Same. I too got one camera camera in bubble wrap instead of a two camera kit (without all the “what comes in the box” accessories).

We are paying for a used GEN ONE camera!

This sucks. Amazon!!!

** UPDATE ON THE SINGLE CAMERA ISSUE

Hold tight. We’re working on the resolution. Takes a bit to get all the steps in place.

Again, sorry for the angst.

Same here. I received one camera in bubble wrap instead of a two camera kits that I pay for. Woot is slowly turning into one of those scam site now. Lately, I’ve had to contact customer service almost every time I order something on Woot. I have been using Woot a long long time, but lately I feel like Woot is trying to scam me. Please fix these Woot!

Like seemingly everyone else I received a single camera in the mail today…

I’m hoping Woot fixes this so I don’t have to go through a credit card dispute to get satisfaction.
