The App to use the lights does NOT work with android version lollipop and above. Works fine if you have an old smartphone you never upgraded laying around or use i-products.
Does anyone know if these products work with smart home controller hubs? For example Echo, etc.
I bought one of these light strips the last time they showed up and am using the app with no issues on Droid 5.1.

Doesn’t work with Echo or equivalent as it doesn’t need to. It’s a stand-alone product with its own app.
