Breville K-Cup Coffee Machine

I would have got it if it were a J-cup or an L-cup…

I am not a fan of K-cups, they are way too expensive per cup.

But… I am a HUGE fan of Breville. I have purchased the IKON blender and the IKON espresso machine from woot. Both are amazing appliances.

I would highly recommend Breville products.

I’d get one, but I just picked up a Tassimo one-cup maker a few days ago at a garage sale, so… no need! Sorry Woot!

Don’t hesitate - if you are looking to get a K-cup coffee maker this is a great price. I have a Keurig with the same specs and I couldn’t live without it.

The cheapest way to buy K-cups is on Amazon. Use the “subscribe and save” option to save 15% and get free shipping. It’s usually 50 K-cups for $16.00 or so. That’s cheaper than Costco.

I have the Keurig model that this is based on, and it’s fantastic. I do have some commercial K-cups around for convenience, but I generally use the My K-Cup filter basket with a favorite roast from a roaster here on Chicago’s Far North Side. I’ve had mine for about a year and a half and, using filtered water, I haven’t had to descale mine yet.

I do keep a decent drip coffee pot around for when I need to make enough to bother, but for my own cup or two in the morning, this makes much better coffee than any drip system I’ve used.

I already have the Kuerig machine… otherwise I would have grabbed this one. I bought that Kuerig to replace my Senseo machine because Senseo style pods are harder to find, these days. Some of the K-Cups make coffee that far exceeds the pods’ quality… yes, the cups are pricy but you can get 80 count packages for under $33 at most wholesale clubs… and 98 count cups at under $36

Here’s a couple vids of the ‘cadillac of coffeemakers’ in operation - so you can get a good idea of the cycle time and sound. Make sure you haven’t been drinking a lot of coffee yourself when listening - or else the audio might get to ya!

This type of thing doesn’t have any appeal to me; I always drink more than one cup of coffee (or tea, when I make it) whenever I make some, and the whole “invidual serving” packaging seems wasteful and gimmicky (much like Tea Bags). I’ll stick with my drip, thanks, but I guess if you only want 1 cup in the morning, and especially if you don’t drink it every morning, this could be easier. My basic philosophy is on these, however, is that if you have the 15 seconds to put in the cartridge, you have the 1 minute to put in the grounds.

If you are getting this, don’t forget to buy your reusable K-cups to use your own grounds for that fresh-ground favorite in the morning. Found them here along with other accessories.

We have one of these. We’ve had it for going on three years. The wife makes coffee with it almost every morning, and says it can be better than some of the coffee shops from around here. Not to mention, it saves you money when you make it yourself. This machine, especially at this price, will pay for itself in no time.

But then, what do I know. I don’t drink coffee LOL.

Am I the only one who doesn’t like the coffee from K-cups? Every time I’ve had one from a public coffee maker it’s tasted like I would expect from a 15 second cup of coffee. Are home versions better?
It couldn’t be any worse than the coffee from last night’s sellout. anyway.

I have the Keurig reusable basket which I really like. Have you ever used the My Kap that re-uses the K-cups themselves?

K-Cup??? h-a-h-a!
Nespresso all the way!

My niece has a similar Keurig model. The coffee it produces is pretty good, but I don’t really see the point of these K-cups. It’s slightly quicker/easier, but I never found coffee making to be all that much of a hassle to begin with – especially if you have one of those coffee makers that doesn’t need paper filters.

Also, as a hardcore coffee guy, I prefer grinding the beans myself right before making my coffee. Nothing really compares to the flavor you get that way.

My main complaint about these machines is that no matter what size cup you choose to make, you still have to use an entire disposable K-cup and then throw it out. If one K-cup can make a 12oz cup of coffee, it seems like a waste to use one for just 6oz and then throw it away.

You also obviously can’t adjust the amount of coffee you use per cup, since the K-cups are sealed.

I see there are accessories for getting around some of these problems. However, using those you basically end up with a traditional coffee maker, pouring the loose coffee yourself – only now, you’ve spent a lot more money.

If you really need to save those 2 minutes you lose making coffee using a traditional coffee maker, then maybe this is worth it. Not for me though.

My comments on this last time got me banned :frowning:

It will actually make about 3 cups of coffee per Kcup. Rap/rock is gimmicky, not 1 serving of coffee.

these are best used in an office. where stale coffee and wasted timed/mess are paramount.

they just don’t just have much to break on them if they have the updated needle design

Please verify that if you leave the coffee/tea/herbal-tea K-cup out, this becomes an energy-efficient “Instant 12oz mug of 190 degree water” machine. That’s what we use our Keurig brand machine for primarily, and it’s quite nice. For the coffee geek, I think this combined with a home grinder and the legendary Aeropress would fit the bill.

anyone else having problems getting on Woot and Sellout.woot? I can get on the forums directly with no problems, but I get an error message whenever I try to go to woot, and the window errors out. Sellout.woot started yesterday, and now the regular woot site is doing it to me today.
