I find it funny that it has an image with a cat as if those wide bars will keep a cat from going beyond it. If the head fits, so does the rest of the pet’s body.
Would a baby fit through the little door? We are looking for a gate to block crawling baby from taking a tumble down the stairs, but that would also let the cat go downstairs
I have three. Great for bedrooms/bathroom doors. Keep your main door open and the critters out. Compliments your decor unlike cheap plastic gates. My favorite feature is that once opened, you can just swing it back shut.

No, a baby will not fit. Our fat cat has a hard time getting her pudgy little basketball shaped body through the cat door, which locks. You have to pull hard to get the pin out to open the cat door so you should be fine.
I may be losing a sale but please don’t use a pressure-mount gate at the top of stairs with children. It’s false security. If it comes lose, kid & gate both tumble down. Always use a wall-mount (screwed into the wall) gate.
We have another (white model) from Carlson and it works great.
We use it to keep the dog (Golden Ret.) out of the laundry room/cat’s litter box. The cat fits easily through the door and just laughs (so I imagine) at the dog on the other side.
I think that must be a common use - keeping dogs out of areas that the cat can access. (Of course, as a puppy it didn’t work well but once she was 4-5 mo old it worked great.
BTW, no - a baby couldn’t get through. A newborn perhaps, but once a baby is crawling they could not get their head through the door (maybe 6"x5"?)
I have one of these in a lighter color. I purchased the gate for the same price. It was actually the best gate I purchased, in comparison with previous gate purchases. Well made, but if the little door was left open, my retriever mix would squeeze through the door. Of course, since it is not wall-mounted, it’s not extremely stable, but did the trick to keep the dogs from roaming the upstairs unattended.
Not on its own. But a little push as going through it will normally put back in place. To much and it could open the other direction. A try or two and you should figure out just how much force is needed. (not a lot).
