Citizen’s BM8186 and BM8180 series are homages to the U.S. armed forces A11 wrist watches of WW2. The 8180 series has a brushed-finish stainless steel case like the original A11. Woot’s watch is 8186 series with case blackened with a thin PVD coating of titanium, a durable finish. These watches have 100M water resistance, mineral glass crystals, screw-down case backs, and quartz movements with recharging batteries powered by photovoltaic cells under the dial. They are Citizen’s entry level to solar power and very high class watches. But there are things you should know. This is a small watch with a 37mm case and 18mm strap, and if you’re a large person it will look like a child’s watch on your wrist. Recharging watch batteries last 5 years tops and they’re expensive. Do NOT attempt to replace this battery yourself, it is glued to the back of the dial. Take it to a watchmaker who has the tools and skill. He/she will get a better price on the replacement battery than you would, and you’ll come out ahead.
