You might end up with a Balsmic riot on your hands here. I think this was the second most requested non-wine item throughout the Woot Off so that might be some consolation. I missed out on the first time around so I’ll probably give it a go this time.
can someone please explain to me the deal with salt on chocolate? i seem to be seeing more of this recently and i think it’s nasty but apparently it has become very popular.
i did see the little “sweet and salty” thing in the write-up but that doesn’t really explain anything
Staff quote: “You have a good 120 days to find the perfect person to gift these to…and if the perfect person doesn’t happen by, you will still be able to enjoy them for another 30 days all by your lonesome!”
Staff quote: “We use Guittard Chocolate for these super yummy salted caramels. Guittard blends beans from Madagascar to Ecuador. The milk chocolate is a 38% cocoa, and the dark chocolate is a 62% cocoa.”
Other useful info:
The fridge is the worst place to store these due to moisture and odors. Make sure to have them delivered to a location that the package can be accepted as opposed to being left outside in the sun. Room temp is fine for these.
I got these last time they were up and they were a HUGE HIT. Very smooth chocolate and caramel, and the salt was not too light, not too heavy. Very tasty.
Perhaps a woot! staffer might be able to help with this question. The office is the best place for me to receive packages, and we’ll be closing after Dec 22. I know woot shipping can be slow. Any idea if 2 weeks is enough time?

ever had chocolate covered pretzels? it’s the same idea except take the pretzel away and leave the saltiness of it. Chocolate and salt are complimentary flavors.
Also, why you’ll hardly ever see a brownie recipe that you don’t add some salt.
