Dell 15.6" Alienware 15R4 Laptop

Dell 15.6" Alienware 15R4 Laptop

Who is paying 2k for something that was made to be top of the line, yet is no longer is even close?

Who is playing 4k gaming on a 15" screen? lol
Who is gaming at 60hz?
Who is paying 2k for a gtx1080 laptop?
Who is paying 2k for 8950hk?
Who is paying 2k for a 6 core processor?

I don’t understand why anyone would drop 2k on a laptop days before black Friday, but if you want to, the omen is a far better deal.

Lastly, it’s worth noting that the Alienware 15R4 was on sale from dell for $1499 in May of 2019. So you’re paying $500 more then Dell sold it for 6 months ago.

Anyone from the mod team wanna make sure this is actually a GTX 1080 and not a GTX 1080 Max-Q?

To put this 1080 up against the 2080 with a new game such as Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order - you’ll get under 39 FPS with the full sized 1080 non-max-q in 4k (which this laptop is) where with the 2080 you’d get 52 fps. New call of duty modern warfare? with the 1080 you’ll get 40 FPS with the 2080 you’d get 58 FPS. Of course the 2080 is on a 144hz monitor not 4k, so you’d actually get 141 fps in Modern Warfare at 1080p where at 1080p with the 1080 you’d get 99 FPS. So, very large differences for the same 2k dollar price; nearly a 50% difference in FPS with one of the top games right now.

So my advice is don’t buy either and save that cash. Ryzen just announced their new intel killer which cost half the price of the latest intel production and boasts much better numbers.

I have one of these with similar specs that I got off refurbished and never again will I buy this heavy junk again. Worst mistake of my life.

Which one the HP or the Dell?

Amen to the earlier poster about how poor of deal this is. Maybe some suckers will get drawn in by the Alienware brand name, but the specs don’t match up. Perhaps it’s the i9 processor that people think deserves that price point. It’s not worth it, especially for gaming. That’s last year graphic’s card. For the price point, you can do MUCH better with a newer machine.

In general, Amazon (who owns Woot.com) seems to have lost their way with how to price computers. Stay away fellow, Wooters. This one is a big PASS.

I looks like they have sold exactly one…

Woot does not price gaming computers well at all. They need someone in their team who actually understands the pricing of their competition. Walmart and Best Buy have been beating up on Woot’s electronics for years.

I feel bad for the person from Minnesota that bought this. Hope they at least enjoy it!
