Something that I didn’t think of when I got my last Xeon workstation here on woot a year or so ago. Got a HP Z210. The processor was the 1240. Didn’t have built in graphics. Didn’t realize that till I tried to connect a monitor and turn on it’s “onboard graphics” in the bios. Ended up having to do a bios reset.

Guess I didn’t remember odd number Xeon’s had onboard graphics, even nubmers did not. And, if you want to use the full 32gb of ram, I have to use ECC ram. It will support 16 only if you use non-ecc ram. Don’t need ecc ram but I would like to use 32gb. Using mine as a media server and it does lots of OTA and cable tv recordings, conversions and playing. Run out of steam when it’s converting 4 or more video’s and trying to play video at the same time. Did upgrade the video card though.
I purchased one last time they were on sale. I’m using it as an unraid server. I had no problem throwing in 32GB of non-ECC memory. It runs several VMs and plex in a docker container along with its traditional NAS functionality with no issues. I’m happy with it.
