Nice. These 3rd Gen Echo’s don’t seem to show up very often on Woot. Tempting at $35, but for the risk-hassle of Amazon refurbs/trade-ins, whose condition can be a crapshoot. (Thankfully, Woot Customer Service promptly addresses issues.)
Perhaps fewer folks trade (for the Amazon 25% discount on a new device) these pretty nice sounding Echo 3rd gens since they do sound noticeably better than the Echo 2nd gen (which sounds OK, but not wonderful)… while not having the baggage of the latest horrible design 4th Gen Echo in bulky globular form factor.
Side hint: what Amazon labels the “Echo Plus 2nd gen” (with Hub) is actually a 3rd gen Echo and you can ignore the Hub feature.
What’s the difference between Amazon Refurbished, Amazon Refurbished (1) and Amazon Refurbished (2)? Is there a difference or is this just another way to complicate ordering?

Is this the best sounding?
We’ve owned all these Echo speaker generations (specifically the plain “Echo” model, not referring to the various other “Echo” devices like Dots, Shows or Studio). The 3rd gen is the sweet spot, ironically, just like the 3rd Gen Echo Dot.
Sound quality very similar to the 4th gen Echo, but without the odd, troublesome, bulky globular dust collector design.
The best sounding is the Echo Studio, but I’ve never seen those come up on woot. Also hardly ever see used/refurbed Echo 3rd gens. I’ve tried finding them on Amazon multiple times, and they don’t even have a page for them. Surprised to see it here
