Anyone have issues getting a energy company rebate buying a refurbished unit?
I owned a Nest for about a year, then replaced it with the Ecobee (5). I am much happier with the Ecobee and would recommend it.
Have an older model - worth upgrading?
This is my third house with an ecobee - never once questioned the purchase -
Usually, the energy company has a list of authorized dealers that they will even accept receipts from (mine included Amazon, Home Depot, and Costco, so it’s a somewhat generous list). Don’t know that I would chance a refurb, though. I would still do a quick cost analysis of whether a new unit minus whatever rebate is available is actually cheaper than this refurb. That can easily go either way.
Yeah, I was rejected the first time. After several emails finally a phone call I finally got it.
Costco currently has this item on sale in-store for $150, including the sensors. $20 more online.

Not sure the sensors are worth the extra $50. This might be better deal.
