Ember Temperature Control Smart Mug 2

For $12.99 I got a Contigo vacuum sealed mug. It’s 24 oz so I can fill it anywhere that sells coffee here. I can fill that thing in the morning, leave it sitting in my car for hours in winter (in NY) and at 11am when I go to drink it, it’s still piping hot. I have the added bonus of when I drop it (or my kids knock it over, etc) it doesn’t break or spill. I use it at home, too. My wife had a non-smart version of this and used it for about 2 weeks before she lost interest in it.

One thing to consider: do you put milk or cream in your coffee? That makes a difference. I do not, so hot black coffee is fine for me. These seem to work best for that scenario.

FWIW.

A big meh, bought a store return 14 oz for $100 2 years ago. Yes it’s completely unnecessary but if you can get a good price I’d recommend.

I picked up a 16 oz double-wall stainless steel travel mug with an uncomplicated lid to take upstairs to my audio studio. It’s pretty spill proof, which I need around my gear, and the coffee stays acceptably hot (for me) for hours.

This over complicated device seems a 100% PITA.

$100? I would just go and reheat mine in the microwave if it gets cold …

Like others, received this as a gift (Christmas 2022). Works well - takes 3 hours to charge and heats for about 90 minutes to maybe 2 hours, which is more than adequate time to knock off 10 ounces of coffee. I never would have bought this on my own but have been using it pretty much every day since receiving it.

I got the 14 oz. on black Friday for around the same price. 10 oz. is kind of small. I love mine, but it’s far from perfect. Sometimes I get the pair notification like 5-6 times before it actually pairs. Sometimes it doesn’t want to pair, other times it pairs fine. I tried those mug warming plates and they just didn’t do the job. This will keep two big cups of coffee at the perfect temperature before I have to charge. It’s definitely worth it to me, but unless you only drink small cups, I’d hold out for a sale on the larger model.

A rechargeable battery powered coffee cup - really ??
P.T. was right ! He was just a bit low in his estimate !
I submit that people in this country could be sold a

Have to get a some Madison Avenue ‘buzz words’ in the

Designed, no doubt, by the same people who designed our new

This item is absurd and the price raises the absurdity to new heights !
No Thanks

I’m picky about basically everything, but especially daily contact points. Years ago, I got several notNeutral Lino porcelain mugs because their handles are so comfortable. The thin handles on these Ember mugs look uncomfortable and more likely to slip, especially considering the extra weight of the battery.

If you also have good mugs that have a flat-ish bottoms and drink your coffee in one place, I highly recommend a Vobaga warmer. I’ve tried several brands of warmers, and that brand has easily been the best. It’s also currently $75 less than this “deal.”

If you’re on the go, any vacuum-insulated double wall bottle seems far more convenient and reliable than this.

No thanks. I saw that season of Curb Your Enthusiasm and remember how it ended.

Good luck finding such a thing. I never could.

I have one and I do like it and use it everyday. But it works best if you stick close to the charging base. It only lasts an hour and a half on its own.

Once the battery goes dead your coffee goes cold fast as it’s not really insulated.

I would definitely wait for an even better deal on the 14oz version but I have to say, once you use this, you’ll be so disappointed by regular mugs and paper cups. The first time you go back to your non-Ember mug and take a sip of something that was sitting there for even 10 minutes, you wonder how you ever lived without an Ember mug. They really are great at allowing you to enjoy your hot beverage over a much greater span of time.

Unless this cup can make my coffee in the morning, keep it at just the perfect temperature all day, and then cook my dinner and do the dishes every night, Ember can keep their cup.

Just got mine. Thought it was a 14 0z! Sending it back.

I linked to the porcelain mugs I use that work very well (notNeutral Lino). I’m sure regular ceramics with similar slightly concave bottoms would also be fine as long as you’re good with your coffee/tea being warm. If you want it to be near-scalding, the warmer I linked is not for you, but there are a bunch of 130F+ ones on Amazon (for an example: I returned this one because it was too hot).

I’ve even used 8oz and 12oz notNeutral latte cups with a smaller concave bottoms; just have to turn the warmer up a level.

As a lifelong coffee drinker I will drink it in a box, with a fox, on a train, in the rain. I will drink it here or there, i will drink it anywhere.
For some reason I bought the 14oz one a year or so ago fully expecting to return it. I am an old dog.
This mug has forever changed how I drink my coffee at home. I use it multiple times daily and have saved well over the cost in unwasted coffee alone.
At first I thought it was kind of stupid. It took an adjustment, as I was accustomed to the gradual temp shift. Once I got used to having the last sip be the same temp as all the sips, it’s my preferred way.
I will still drink it any way I can but you should try this if you love coffee. Just give yourself a few weeks to adjust.
Also, find a better deal.

Huh. I drink a lot of coffee and never waste the cold/cooled down coffee. I even like iced coffee.
