For $71.99 I can buy an awful lot of electricity to reheat my coffee in the microwave when necessary for the 25 or so seconds it takes.
I thought the same. My wife got me a 14oz from costco clearance just a bit cheaper than this and i oddly think its a fantastic but ridiculous product. Well suited for a gift if you feel like you couldnt/wouldnt flat out buy it
I got the travel mug version on clearance. Best use is knowing temperature before you drink so you don’t burn your mouth.

Absolutely no one outside of that company would have thought that this was a winning idea. A breakable electronic coffee mug that can’t be put in the dishwasher that tells you when it’s safe to drink. At least the Stanley’s are nearly unbreakable from normal human interactions and cost half as much.
Or, for $20 bucks or so, you could like me get a cup-sized hot plate and regular old mug that you can wash however you want or still stick in a microwave. Yeah, this is an awful idea. Solving a problem that already has a handful of better solutions.
I received one of these as a gift (Christmas 2022) and have been using it steadily since then, usually for a morning and an evening cup. Absolutely no complaints - keeps the coffee at a decent temperature for about 90 minutes. I would never have bought this for myself, and probably would not now, but it is a nice gift to receive. (If I DID get one for myself, I think I’d go for the 14 ounce one.)
It’s not that the cups tell you when it’s a safe temperature to drink, they keep at the temperature you desire for the entire time you’re drinking it. You can take it outside or anywhere and it’s at the temperature you like. You can have 1 oz left in the cup and it’s still the perfect temperature. I have another brand and I love it.
