Ember Temperature Control Smart Mug 2

I always wanted one of these but even at $100 it’s a bit too much for being practical.

I thought maybe there was a wootstake, nah. I could reheat in the microwave.

Yeah.

Only 10oz?

No thanks.

I was thinking the same things as the rest of you: it’s a cool (so to speak) idea, but not $100 cool, and only 10 ounces is pretty limiting.

100 % agree with all of the above, too much money even for two (small) mugs.

If you have got the money, they are worth it. Costco use to sell the ember 1 for this price, but stopped. They are really popular and there were never many left in stock. Never thought it would be that useful, but is sooo awesome.

I really want the travel mug ember, but that one is $180 or $150 on sale

We saw them at Costco way back, and they marked them down to $89 before they stopped carrying them.

One of the docs said he loved his. :mask::hugs:

Does this “smart” mug come with a Ivy League Degree?

Have y’all seen the USB-powered mug-warning hot plates on Amazon? My wife got me one for Christmas, so I’m not allowed to check how much they cost, but I’m guessing they are a lot cheaper than $100. The only downside is that they are probably a massive fire hazard.

I coincidentally fired up my new hot plate at the office today for the first time. Holy crap, it actually works! I didn’t test it yet with a mug, but it definitely got hot. Who knew that a device rated for 10 watts can get that hot and that quickly? Mine even has a temperature setting, but I’m sure it’s very inaccurate.

If you insist on a specific temp for your high mountain spring harvest oolong, then go spend your $100. And help “revolutionize the way people eat, drink and live” as only Ember can deliver.

I will enjoy using all the mugs I already own and want to own, and washing them in the dishwasher. I’ll report tomorrow how my high mountain oolong tastes, unless I burn down my office.

This is version two of the Ember mug. So you aren’t getting two mugs for one.

I was given version one as a gift. Is it worth so much money? I don’t think so. More of a gimmick for people who want to keep their coffee at a certain temperature. Maybe version two is less temperamental than the original version, but I always have problems with the handshake with my phone when I get to the office.

For an extra $60K pointless-debt-price, you might get woot to throw in a degree from DeVry.

Yeah… it’s actually only one mug.

I got one of these as a gift, and all I can say is it does keep the coffee warm. The mug is heavy. It must be hand washed. And that plate is not a warmer, it’s a charger. Which means once you wash it it must go back on that plate to be ready for the next time you want it to keep warm. The mug only warms for about 2 hours, then it needs to sit on that charger.
But it is pretty. Looks impressive sitting on a desk. Need a gift that they probably don’t have? Here ya go.

My sister got me one for my birthday or Christmas in 2020. Just in time for the pandemic. I used it a lot. Now it sits home alone in my home office gathering dust. I could take it to work but… I’d have to remember to get it out of my home office.

This is a crappy deal. The 10oz mug almost always goes for $100. I only know because I’ve been waiting on a good deal for the 14oz mug for my wife who always lets her coffee get cold. That one also goes on sale for $100 pretty often, which is still too much.

I have 3 off-brand heated mugs like this and I do like them. I keep one on my nightstand, one on my home office desk and one on my work office desk. I often heat water in them for drinking (I put a little bit of Mio lemon in it). I probably paid for all three what a single ember costs and the only difference is that I cannot control mine from my phone. I don’t regret buying mine at all and do use them but I can also live without them and also still drink my actual coffee from my Contigo thermos.

I have version 1. Received as a Christmas gift. I use it every day, but would recommend the 14 oz version. That’s my only gripe.
