How does the cup not know how many oz it is? ![]()
Identity crisis?
There’s also a 14 oz version, but that’s not for sale here. (I’d recommend paying a bit more to get the higher-capacity version.)
If you like your hot beverages “hot” then Not, do not buy these… 145 degrees probably is good for French latte sipping connoisseurs but us plebs just can’t
I have the 16oz Tumbler. That’s the biggest one they make.
You can adjust down the temp. I forget where I have it set, but surely not at 145. Would agree with the poster and get the 14oz.
They work great when they work. I bought a 16 oz Tumbler October of last year. So far I had the charging disk replaced once and the lid replaced twice. You can only contact them with a message through their Web site and they take forever to respond. I couldn’t use my Tumbler for a month since the charging disk was broken and it took them a month to get me a replacement.
There is ABSOLUTELY no customer service from ember! No WORKING telephone number on the website, and they NEVER respond to emails! Save your $$$$ and your aggravating!
I was given one of these as a gift. It must be hand washed. The app is wonky. And there is no customer support. Yep. This is a COFFEE CUP that REQUIRES customer support.
But it makes a lovely pen holder on my desk. Until my kid comes to visit. Then I wash it and pretend to use it.
Do you still need an app to use these things? From what I can tell these have a high failure rate and the app never works. I ended up spending the money to get a next mug plus and have had 0 problems with it… and you don’t need an app.
Thanks
Other Wooters & reviewers have advised the app is mostly needed for set up.
For $35, I’m willing to take the risk to try it out. I’ve certainly spent more on lesser items. I’d rather the 14 oz version myself, but gotta take what is offered and glad there’s more than just the black & white versions (though the copper option would’ve been awesome!)

I purchased the supposedly refurbished mug. It was clearly a defective device that was put in a return box and subsequently sold. There was zero inspection for quality, and it was a direct return from a user who had used the device for a long time, which no longer works, and returned it. When I opened the box, it still had lipstick marks on it. The device would not charge as the charging plate Would not charge the cup. Notoriously the charging plate would accumulate water on the bottom and the charging pin would be stuck depressed. There was no customer service and I could not return the device.
[TT: Sorry for the issues. I see that Woot CS refunded you fully.]
I love my ember 14oz mug. I use it every day and no longer throw out coffee or microwave it to reheat. I almost never use the app.
Getting the clear plastic sipping lid will make the battery last way longer. You can watch a movie and the last sip will be nice and hot.
For this price I’d almost get one just for tea since mine is permanently coffe-fied. Also for a second charging plate.
Get the assurion because I had an issue with a refurb travel one and when I reached out ember told me they don’t do refurbs, factory reconditioned, etc. So I’m not really sure what that means other than they won’t help if there’s an issue.
I bought my daily ember 14oz mug at costco for like $70 so I know I’ll get good customer service from them if needed. But again, for this price just try it and get the assurion for a few bucks.
Thanks for that advice on your Ember warranty, experience, especially since Woot’s listing specifies a 30-day manufacturer’s warranty.
@ThunderThighs, may we request confirmation the mfgr’s warranty is legit here?
I went back to look and mine also stated 30 day manufacturers warranty.
Also here’s what ember said.
After a huge hassle I think woot ended up refunding me. It had arrived with the lid not functioning and all I had asked ember for was help with the lid.
I must add that if I let the battery die and it gets cold (like if I forget about it or fall asleep -I’m am all day all night coffee sipper) all I have to do is press the power button and put it on the charger and it reheats my coffee.
The only time it ever really ends up tasting burned is if this happens with just a little coffee left, without the lid on.
Almost zero coffee wasted in like 4 years of having an ember.
And let’s face it you can only microwave coffee so much before it’s ruined.
Looking forward to staff response.

There have been so many refurb Ember mugs here. Issues?
