Excalibur 4GB USB 2.0 Portable Drive

I know what makes it look so crappy!

It reminds me of every image I’ve seen on a running keygen.exe or patch.exe cracking application. It just needs the cheap Gameboy-quality midi file looping indefinately in the background!

Sean Connery: Uh… I’ll take “Swords” for $400.
Alex Trebek: It’s actually not “Swords”… these are words that begin with “S”. The answer is: “Popeye is this sort of man”. [ Reynolds buzzes in ] Burt Reynolds.
Burt Reynolds: What is… Popeye?
Alex Trebek: [ sighs ] No. [ Connery buzzes in ] Sean Connery. And, remember, these are words that begin with the letter “S”, i>not “Swords”.
Sean Connery: [ bangs podium, thinking ] Saber!
Alex Trebek: No.
Sean Connery: It began with a bloody “S”!

Woot: This post is relevant.

I would have bought a couple if it were working with Windows ReadyBoost

solid state, to me, is preferable. it’s not going to crash like a hard drive (which this contains) might.

but heck, it wasn’t long ago that i marveled at the idea of being able to carry 4 gb in your pocket, without seeming overly glad to see mae west.

pass.

a little big, but good gb/$ for sure

No, the 8Gig one in the woot-off was twice the price $49.95 which is exactly what I paid for a 6Gig one back in November from Woot. :frowning:

I got that 8GB drive off the woot-off… This looks tempting.

Already have one like it…very durable and semi compact; i’ve dropped it a few times and no problems…anyone else not get a BofC during wootoff? I’ve never hit the lotto with that. so sad.

4gb @ $25…and I was going to be buying something like it soon anyway.

I got the 8gig drive off the wootoff. And I have 3 of the 6gig version. So this 4gig is just not worth it.

I have dropped my Matsunichi brand ones and not had any problems. The microdrive in them is pretty stable and secure. However I have no idea bout the durability on this particular woot.

Though the hard drive types are a little bigger than flash types, the hard drive types seem to be more durable, and hold up over constant use…just from my own personal experience at work.

for those preferring flash;
2gb: 15$ AR w/ U3

2gb: 22$ no rebate

how would the speed of transferring files and the like compare on this as opposed to a drive with flash memory?

Excalibur?Excalibur?Excalibur?

ROFL! This reminds me of an SCTV skit, which incidentally ALSO begins with “S”.

Looks like a ZIPPO!

I bought another brand that is essentially the same exact product --same shell (though brushed Al and not some awful black paint job), same placement of the LED activity indicator, about a year ago for $100, and that was on sale – I’m picking up this for $30, because the other one has worked brilliantly – tons of storage and, for a little thing, decent speed on a USB2 connection… for some of those comments, the size of it does hurt when you’ve got a crowded USB area, but the little connection rotates so you can get it in just about anywhere…

Why doesn’t it?

make sure you realize this is NOT flash memory, it is a tiny physical hard drive. not good to use with the vista ready boost.
