Look at the first post in this thread by the WootBot. Once an item sells out, it says how many total woots there were.
ie:
Current numbers (updated each minute)

Note: All woots are not equal. A woot order with a qunatity of 1 item counts as 1 woot in this application, and a quantity of 2 counts as 2 woots, etc… Opposed to your profile, where a woot order with a quantity of 1, 2, or 3 still only counts as 1 woot.

you wont actually know how many are available but when its sold out and you see only 1 woot sold hat kinda gives it away.
