GLX Motocross Helmets

Now come on woot… gardening isn’t an X-game yet

Though some would say I need a full face helmet when working around the house…

Such an avant garde(n) flower planter!

So, are the Elbow / Knee Pad Kits 2 pieces or 4? I can’t tell from the description or photos if you get both elbow pads AND knee pads, or if it’s a single pair that is supposed to work for both joints.

And the manufacturer’s site doesn’t list them.

Thanks.

How do motor cross helmets apply to tools and garden?

You mean to tell me you guys haven’t tried extreme gardening? Turned me into an adrenaline junkie. Such a rush. Don’t forget some good goggles and cleats though.

I was skeptical at first, but well worth it. Conquered a lot of fears.

I’d also like to know what you get in the Elbow / Knee Pad Kit - just one, like the picture? A pair, so you can protect 2 elbows or 2 knees? Or a set of 4 to cover all your elbows & knees?

Yeah, it’s not real clear. Checking.

UPDATE: You will get

(2) Knee Pads
(2) Elbow Pads

The sale should be updated soon to reflect this on the Specs page.

apart from color, any difference between GB-S GL-S and GR-S?

second question. when will motorcycle manufacturers and accessory suppliers run out of alphabet letters naming their models?

$35 helmet for a $35 head.

Sorry, but I actually race mx and these are non-brand cheapo helmets that aren’t worth the asking price. You will not be able to find parts (like the visor, which will break on the first crash) and even if these were good helmets, you should ALWAYS try helmets on in an actual store. Correct fit is essential and there’s more to it that guessing what your head size is.

Sorry Woot, but these shouldn’t even be for sale here. Helmets are an important safety item for off-road riding (ATV, motorcycle or mountain bike) and fit, comfort, quality and meeting standards is important. The saying is: “If you have a $10 head, buy a $10 (or $35) helmet.”

There are good, readily-available quality helmets in the $60 to $99 range. These aren’t.

FAIL

I bought one of these for my 7 year old to wear instead of the top of the head helmet. Is this more protection than the normal bike helmets that don’t protect your face? The obvious answer seems yes but just curious what you think is safer, this or the standard bike riding helmet for a 7 year old.

You guys are looking at it all wrong. The helmet has a shovel attached to the front. All you need to do is headbutt the soil for planting tulip bulbs. The knee/elbow pads are so you don’t get dirty while scooping.

Thanks!

I have a cheap knock off helmet for my 4 year old for his 4wheeler… It’s better than a bike helmet and obviously better than nothing. I’m ordering a larger one for my 4 year old and pass his old one on to my 2 year old.

Their 4wheelers go 8-10mph… I don’t think they need $400 Icon Variants.

I would not use this helmet. Nor would I let my kids or anyone else I remotely care about use this helmet.

but if your a dummy dummy get one

I feel sorry for your kids. Being a med student and doing rotations in Emergency Medicine, 8-10mph crashes for little ones can be pretty bad… Spend a little more and get something a bit better IMHO

At the end of the day it is still DOT approved, so perhaps not as bad as you think. That being said, I wouldn’t use it for any of the riding I do.

This helmet offers more protection than an open-face helmet, however, it’s more important that it fit correctly and a measurement of your head is only part of the puzzle. These are just cheapo helmets and while better than nothing, are not helmets I’d consider for my kids. A real motorcycle shop will find you a better brand that fits properly. You’ll pay a little more, but can find excellent helmets for well under $100. In fact, you’ll find the excellent Gmax 46Y (youth) helmet in most shops for about $75 or less. Far better than this no-name import.
