Well, folks… the Amazon group that produces our apparel, surprised us recently with the news that they’ve decided to pull the plug on our Fitted t-shirts. They probably gave a lot of good reasons for the decision (insufficient interest, supply chain constraints, increased material costs, etc.) But all we could think about was that scene in Titanic where Rose is all “I’ll never let go!”
Right before she LITERALLY lets go and watches poor Jack sink into the frigid depths.
We should probably unpack that with our therapist at some point.
But all silliness aside, we do actually have to stop selling Fitted t-shirts. We know it’s lame, and we did our best to prevent it, but the folks at Amazon ultimately had to make the business decision that worked best for ALL of their partners, not just us Wooters. Just know that we’re mourning the loss right along with you.
The change is happening immediately, but it will likely take a week or so for us to get everything removed. So don’t be surprised if you stumble across some designs with fitted options and some without. Inconsistency is part of what makes Woot so damn charming, right?!
On the bright side, you can still shop all of our TENS OF THOUSANDS of rad designs, whenever you want, wherever you want, and even in whatever accent you want! Blimey! Crikey! Mon Dieu!
Well, in a country plagued w/ obesity, fitted clothing is a niche market. I mean, it perpetuates the troubles of my youth when I was constantly griping “Why are all the clothes for FAT PEOPLE!?!” but that was a long time ago.
It’s a non-issue for me now [or for the past couple decades] since I’m one of the OBFG now…
Though the old American Apparel blanks remain my favorite, the current Bella+Canvas “fitted” kept the same slimmer body whereas the standard tended to actually be wider than its sizing chart measurements. I can size down, but that loses some length.
Here’s hoping there will be additional options in the future.
I too hope something new and fun in terms of size options are available. I like the shirts a bit fitted for women and found a decent size (though often still to snug in the shoulder bits. )
Being one of the fatties I shall not miss this option at all like the tank tops with the public armpits I was just not a fan I am sorry for the skinnies but really it is nice being in the majority for a change even if it is still ok to make fun of us
Shoot, that’s too bad, as I only buy the fitted ones because the fabric is soft versus the stiff quality of the regular ones. But if they’re the ones printing the shirts as well, then the change makes sense because the last dozen shirts I ordered were all really poorly printed.
Fitted was the only option with the old Woot. Up until 2012, they were sourced from American Apparel. On a regular basis, there were complaints comments from Wooters about the shirts being “too small”. If the shirt received was indeed smaller than the sizing chart, CS would replace it. If the Wooter just didn’t pay attention, the recourse was as it was spelled out in the FAQ: ‘Donate it or sell it on eBay.’
