Google Wifi System (1st Gen)

Google Wifi System (1st Gen)

My wife’s employer just gaver her the Gen 2 to address connectivity issues in our 60ft long home. Not really as easy a setup as you’d think, and you really need two apps, Home to set it up, and WiFi to configure.
set them up in the same room then move them, for some reason the setup requies proximity, and some points simply need to be set up a few times before it “clicks”. Once set up it’s simple to configure in the apps.

I bought this (Gen 1, 3 pack) the last time at about $10 more and it was very easy to set up. Although our house is not large, it was old and the previous wifi setup definitely had some dead or slow spots. The google system has eliminated all of the previous problems. I would recommend this and I know my kids would also as it apparently made video game playing much improved.

I purchased the 3-pack system when it was listed previously (June 22nd, same price) and I cannot speak highly enough of the results. My home is long, tall, and narrow, and the only coax hookup is in the front of the house on the bottom floor. The WiFi router that the cable company provided would drop out or dramatically slow down when I walked to the back of the house or upstairs. There were rooms with zero coverage. This system covers the entire house with very little drop-off in speed. It even covers the front patio all the way to the sidewalk.

Like another user said, the setup process is easy, but takes a while. You have to download the Google WiFi app and wait through a lot of router reboots. You also have to buy a modem, if you don’t already have one. But once it’s all done, you have an amazing system that offers great coverage and all of the features a normal user would want (plus some cool extras like being able to set up a guest network and set priority devices). I’m very happy with my purchase (enough to bother writing a review) and I recommend this system.
