I saw an article that said dreaming occurs in the REM sleep state and that not dreaming could be a sign of Sleep Apnea (or other sleep disorder) since these conditions can prevent someone from ever reaching the REM state. Also that this is why people with Sleep Apnea stay tired all the time despite sleeping, because the REM state is where you get the most restful sleep and they never reach it.
Iâm lucky to get 5 hours on a weeknight and excited if I get 7 hours each night over the weekend.
Usually between 6 - 8 hours. This year I have really prioritized going to bed early and getting sleep.
I picked 7-8 but like @ErinLeslie , its more like 6 - 8.
Not nearly enough.
I usually get 3-4 hours before I just toss & turn for the next 2-3 hours. Not very good for my health for sure.
Ambien is the only way I can sleep. 95% of my nights I donât dream, but 5% are Night Terrors or Nightmares
Like TheSquishyShelli said it freaks me out why I donât have dreams that when you wake up happy.
Mine are full of frightđ when they come
I average 7, if I just look at when I go to bed & when I generally get up.
Actual sleeping time? A bit less⌠dammit.
Iâm always tired.
Sleep study says Apnea, but I get less sleep when I tried c-pap & bi-pap, so I just deal.
I do a stupid amount of cardio during the week, so that helps me sleep early. Been in the 8+ hour range lately.
Iâve worked in the field of Sleep Medicine for 25 years. A small percentage of the population (about 5%) claims they never dream. In actuality they do and just donât remember the dreams. There are many reasons why some people have better dream recall than others, mostly related to chemicals in the body/brain. Theyâve recently discovered that dreaming doesnât just happen in Rapid Eye Movement (REM) sleep. It can happen in other stages as well. There are many sleep disorders and medications/substances that can absolutely impact how much dreaming one does at night (as well as your overall health). Itâs a relatively young and fascinating field of medicine. And please always remember - itâs not just about how much sleep you get at night, but the quality of your sleep matters too.
For those interested in sleep health, National Sleep Foundation is a great resource. And if youâre ever interested in seeking help, please go to a Board Certified Sleep Medicine specialist in an AASM Accredited facility to get the highest standard of care.
Different every day, 7 hours maybe ?
We do have a $3K mattress so when you do fall asleep itâs comfortable sleep.
Mr. Green Jeans was a legend.
6 to 7. Any more and I wake up with a stiff back
Sleep! We donât need no stinkinâ sleep!
some nights zero, last night 3.
Now if you rephrased the poll âHow long are you in bed every nightâ Iâd answer 9, but I only get about 6 hours of good sleep out of it. Insomnia.
Not enough.
