But HP is pretty good with getting it’s units up and back out and they are just as good as new, providing it was HP that fixed these. And my last dealings with HP, they were outstanding getting me a restore image to a machine that was just out of warranty and the drive took a hiccup for a friend. My 7 year old HP is still working well and we use HP towers and laptops for work. Other then dropping them, they have been great.
I did a quick Google search but didn’t find an answer…is the RAM expandable, and if so, what is the max it will handle? 4GB just seems inadequate to me.
No, Windows 10 is just the operating system, you will need to get Office software separately (or use free web-based Office Online with your Microsoft account and save to OneDrive).
Definitely the better deal. 4GB just isn’t adequate. After spending $50+ to upgrade the RAM, an additional $50 for 9 more months of warranty is well worth it.
No. Windows is the operating system, not the programs installed on the computer. Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint are parts of Microsoft Office, and that is separate from Windows. You’ll have to pay for Office, or else use the free online versions.
I looked at the dual core link. Make note that it’s an i3 and not a Pentium in that link. Just cause the pentium is quad core doesn’t mean crap. It can actually be slower.
I’ve never understood the 90 warranty on a refurb. If they’ve gone through and checked it, why not have a 1yr warranty like Lenovo does on their refurbs? Does this mean they don’t even trust their own work?
That’s exactly the opposite experience of what I had with the majority of HP laptops and 2-in-1s of the past 10 years or so. Almost every single one of them developed some sort of cooling fan issue as soon as the warranty expired, either that or the fan is way too loud to begin with. The most recent one was a 2-in-1 tablet/laptop that was so loud that it was disturbing in a 50-student classroom setup. I do have 1 unit that did not have any cooling fan issues, but that one somehow quit recognizing SATA.
Also, these Pentium N processors are pretty much today’s Intel Atom processors. Saying that i3 processors are inferior because it has 2 less cores would be nonsense. Think about it as like, which would be more powerful, a 4-cylinder 250-cc engine or a 2-cylinder 1800cc one.
