I ordered two Roomba 670s. One is fine. The other is announcing “Charging Error 8.” Apparently this means communication with the battery is faulty or that that battery itself is bad. It cannot complete the (Android) app setup.
As an experiment I swapped the batteries between the two Roombas to determine if it is a bad battery or a bad Roomba. To my great surprise, now BOTH seem to be working as they are supposed to!!! I was able to add the “bad Roomba” to the Roomba app.
Here’s hoping this “repair by magic” continues to be effective…
