The knife I have in my pocket right now is a Kershaw with SpeedSafe. It is awesome. Every friend who uses it asks me where he can get one.
SpeedSafe is a torsion bar (compact spring) system that lets you whip out the blade as fast and easily as a switchblade (though it’s “street legal”), and keeps you from closing it on your finger(s). The latter is a really good thing, since the thing is ridiculously sharp.
I got a great deal on mine and paid $40-something. I’d be in for 3 right now if I wasn’t over my impulse-buy quota for the month.
I’ve got 2 Kershaws. They are the old opening assisted style, not this style. I love them. Very durable and have gone through alot in day to day tasks. Highly recommeneded
One thing that Kershaw does well, is that the knife will come out of the box absurdly sharp…and if it ever dulls you can send it to them and they’ll resharpen it for free.
I have an “Amazon Special” (cheaper than the usual at the cost of slightly inferior steel–420HC) Blur with Speedsafe, and I love it.
Might get one of these just for the low cost anyway. I’m going to go on a google spree, but does anyone know offhand how 8CR13MoV compares to 420HC?
