Is this worth getting? I need a laptop to get me through my master’s courses. Will probably be needing a portable display as well.
I wouldn’t recommend this one, although some people might be more forgiving to the specs.
This is one of the absolute lowest tiers of Lenovo’s laptops, so while the included 16GB of RAM looks nice, and the basic 256GB SSD may be sufficient for a basic school computer, the CPU is very underpowered, and the rest of the package is not going to be a good performer… The resolution of the built-in display is very low, and matches a laptop that I purchased in 2009, as one point - I would recommend looking for a minimum of 1080p (1920 x 1080) or higher if you plan on doing any work. It would also be nice if it were a nicer IPS panel, or better, since many cheap screens will be washed out at angles. Similarly, the low position in the product stack means that the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi will not be very robust (like only one or two transmit/receive radios, at the very best, but even more like just one), so even though they are “new”, they might not be able to do well for video calls, or using any cloud services for software or collaborative projects.
As someone who has worked in IT for many years, I will often recommend desktops, and just use a basic laptop (like this) or tablet (like an iPad) for mobility. However, if you’re set on just a single laptop as your computer, thenyou should probably try to budget up a little more than this, if possible.
Hope that helps.

And side recommendation - You mentioned portable displays… I just gave a recommendation to this Viewsonic model as one that I have used and liked. Looks like it’s still available here on Woot, and features a very pleasant 1080p IPS panel, and at a lower price than when I got my two screens.
I don’t see an operating system. What am I missing please?
The product description beneath the title mentions W11P, which should indicate Windows 11 Pro comes preinstalled.
Hope that helps.
Thank you! I missed that one!
I have multiple other computers, just none are. Very easily portable.
