By what measurement is the below claim made, and does it apply only to the sales on woot?
“For every LifeStraw® product sold, one school child in a developing country receives safe drinking water for an entire school year.”

Edit: For the record, I’m purchasing one anyway; these are perfect for the bug out bag.

Didn’t see a shelf life for the family one, is it the same as the personal?

If you have amazon prime, it is the same price on Amazon.

Unless you’re (I) buying 4 at a time.

This is a Lifestraw program, and since Woot buys directly from Lifestraw, sales on Woot apply to this initiative.

I don’t see any information about heavy metals, or other pollutants. Is this strictly for bacteria and mud?

Seems like you’d want heavy metal filtration at least for a family sized unit.

What makes this the “Most advanced personal water filter available today”? I have a Sawyer Mini which is the same weight and about half the length; filters out more bacteria, protozoa, and dirt; filters 2-3 times faster; and is good for a hundred times as much total water filtering (100000L). It will also work as an inline filter on a backpack reservoir.

Not so wooty - great product though, bought one a year ago and it works great, once primed supplies as much water as a regular straw. Same price as http://www.amazon.com/LifeStraw-LSPHF017-Personal-Water-Filter/dp/B006QF3TW4

Is this a “Tactical” filter? You know, I only want things that help me indulge my military fetish.

If it doesn’t remove virus’s, it’s best to just leave it at home.
