I liked this deal until I read a plethora of one star reviews. I’m not sure why the aggregate rating shows positive, but this is worrisome.
Most of the one stars that I saw are people with unreal expectations. The majority being the call out that the box isn’t waterproof. The description is pretty clear that it is “weather and water-resistant”. I have a smaller version of this and it keep the contents bone dry all the time.
4% of the reviews are 1 star. If you add up the 3, 2, and 1 star reviews, it is only 10% of the over 7,500 reviews. 13% are 4 stars and 77% are 5 stars. Over 90% thought this was exceptional. I can’t get that kind of agree on where to go to dinner in my house.
If it is half as good as my current box, it is a pretty good deal. I’m in for one.
This seems identical to the Suncast version that I own and love. If it is I’ll be quite happy at this price! Let you know if it’s different than expected when I receive it.
We have had this box for five years, and keep it on our porch that is 20’ from a large river. It is made of very thick and durable plastic. We bought it at our local Costco for approximately $130-40. The waves from the river crash on the rip rap and spray water all over the porch. The porch and the box get soaked several days a week. We keep all the cushions for our porch furniture in the box, and the box has never leaked. It is possible to make a gasket using weatherstripping to give the box added protection, but think that would be overkill based on my experience. This is an excellent heavy duty deck box at a solid price. Woot, Woot!
I have a smaller (130 gallon) version of this Lifetime box. For two years it has kept its contents dry, even though it is located next to a shed and gets runoff from the shed roof. I think I paid $150 for the smaller box, so given the larger size and the obscene inflation in the last two years I think this is a good deal.
