Any link to the power adapter you need to buy?
These don’t use a power adapter. Just a regular cable that plugs right into the unit. I don’t think it’s proprietary, either. You likely have things in your house that use the same type.
I recommend buying two of these and pairing them for stereo. I’ve had two for years (since before the pandemic) and they still work perfectly. I use them everyday.
A quick lookup confirms this uses a standard non-polarized figure-eight style power plug. Not a power adapter (aka wall wart). If you don’t have a spare around the house they can be picked up for very little cost.
This is VERY tempting! Old model, but very good sound. Been eyeing them for years.
Edit: deleting my original post because I assumed the power cables would be way more than they are. You can find them for like 11 bucks on eBay.
This is a great deal. People are selling these on eBay really high prices just because the new versions are not satisfactory too people that like these. Because they don’t have the ports for analog connections which were a big part of the selling point
The speaker was kind of a cheat code because Amazon selling it it’s probably not that much more than it cost to make. Idon’t really need to make money on the hardware. They just want to get people into that ecosystem so they can maybe use it with a fire stick or Amazon music
But you can make Spotify the default music player or Apple music. I don’t think you can do YouTube music unless that change
I use one as a computer monitor. Another as a soundbar sometimes with the analog connection.
Oh is that true I just assumed they would probably be expensive because this is a great value otherwise.
People are selling pairs of these on Amazon for more than they were brand new just cuz they’re out of stock and the new ones don’t have 3.5 cables anpg ports
Yeah I would highly recommend this then. Even if you don’t like the smart speaker stuff which I don’t, because of the analog ports it’s hard to beat this deal as just like a desktop speaker. Put a phone into it or a computer monitor or a computer.
What power cable exactly is needed to buy? How important is a subwoofer?
How are these not sold out by mid-day? These sound amazing.
I resisted buying these 1st gens when they were on sale new as low as $200, but very much wanted them. I’ve probably got 5 figure-8 power cords in the cord drawer. They were common on portable cassette-radio players.
Was excited about the 2nd gen, but it is getting so-so reviews, apparently has some reliability issues.
I ordered two of these - the comments saying two for stereo takes them up another notch are valid.
… and I’m not even quite sure where we’ll use them. The house and garage are already fully Echo’d.
Both our home theater setups already have Alexa-connected Denon AVR’s + surround speakers for streaming music.
Now they need to dig up some Echo Subwoofers-those quietly went away a while ago. I did grab a pair of these at this great price
Amazon un-discontinued them and they are available new from the Mothership for $129.
Thanks for the tip, I’d given up on it
Thanks for the link. I don’t know why Woot doesn’t include power cords.
I got a couple of these and ordered a couple of power cords since it said they were not included…well both had the power cords included! Other than that the description was correct, these both look brand new and sound great.
Very happy with this buy!
Yep, both of my Studios also included not only power cords, but what appear to be authentic Studio power cords. Although, oddly and inconsequentially, one of the cords was in a zip lock bag whilst the other was not.
Also, while both Studios appear to have never been used and came in same as new black Amazon boxes, inside brown protective boxes, the labels on the outside indicated “Reacondicionado”, indicating they were intended for a Spanish-speaking market. Wouldn’t be the first time for “international” Echo stuff on Woot.
Nice they have the full Amazon 1-year warranty, vs the frequent 90-day Woot warranty.
Took me a couple attempts to connect them to my account in the Alexa app. In both cases the config process got hung up on the Wi-Fi connection step. Unplugged, plugged in the Studio and restarted the Add a device process in the Alex app.
Give them a good 20+ minutes sitting there to go thru a couple firmware updates (flashing blue/light blue ring) once registered to your account.
