Does this work with the stick?
Is this the exact model that is 299.99 on Amazon minus the charging base?
No. But it could. You need the Harmony Hub. The remote only uses infrared (IR). The Amazon Fire devices uses radio frequency (RF). The Harmony hub allows the Harmony remote to use RF too.
I think so.
One {remote} to rule them all, one {remote} to find them
One {remote} to bring them all, and in the {sofa} bind them…
Fixed the last line for you:
One {remote} to rule them all, one {remote} to find them
One {remote} to bring them all, and in the {sofa} behind them…
Is the charging dock available separately?
I was just about to ask that…
@saquack thank you for the compared chart, very helpful!
I owned one of these long time ago. Maybe 7 or so years ago and hated it then. This is super old technology and I would recommend going with a new hub-based remote. I would take my 880 or 890 over this one
This is a minor complaint, but the buttons that are above the screen in this remote are just a pain in the butt to use, especially when taking into consideration the touch screen, too much opportunity to mess up in the dark. Also, a lot of devices are using bluetooth or RF now and need the hub.
What was so bad about it? I have an 880 and while it’s ok, I just thought it might be nice to have something newer.
I’m a big fan of harmony remotes and have had a few over the years but this one sucks BAD! I only got it because the alexa integration but trying to use the handset will quickly want you to turn this into a homerun baseball. Do not buy it.
{gasp} you made it so much better
No it can’t. This remote will not work with a Harmony Hub (neither old nor new version), so you’re stuck with IR. Don’t confuse the Ultimate One (this model) with the Ultimate (model 915-000237), which looks the same but is hub based. The latter has been replaced with the Harmony Elite ( model 915-000256), which is similar to the Ultimate but has a better button layout and also has some home automation buttons.
The fact that Amazon has this model listed for $300 is irrelevant, it’s not worth anywhere near that amount, since you can purchase a refurb Ultimate with hub for way less.
IMO, if you’re looking to get started in the Harmony world, get one of the hub-based models. For example, the basic hub (model 915-000238), which is currently for sale for $80, but has gone down to $60 a few times this year) allows you to use your phone/tablet as the remote but uses Bluetooth to communicate between your phone and the hub, so line of sight isn’t required. Or there’s the Harmony Companion (model 915-000239) which includes a remote, although it’s limited to six activities (which is probably enough for most people). You can also look out for used/refurbished Smart Remotes (model 915-000194, discontinued), which is similar to the Companion but lacks smart home controls.
Will this remote work with any of the streaming devices (Roku Ultra, Fire Stick, Apple TV, Google TV or Tivo Stream 4K)?
Excellent info there bud!
Why won’t it work with the Hub? It says it will on Amazon.
I’m pretty sure your info is incorrect. The Ultimate included the hub, but for those users that already have a hub (such as from a Smart Control or Companion bundle), this remote can be paired with the hub as a second remote. This is confirmed by Logitech’s own compatibility information:
Harmony Hub accepts one remote of each type:
- One touchscreen remote (Pro, Pro 2400, Elite, 950, Ultimate, Ultimate Home, Touch, Ultimate One)
- One screen-less remote (Companion, Smart Control)
Also, this:
Anyway to confirm whether or not this will connect to a hub?
